Pre-Workout Drink????

Pre-workout drinks = waste of money. X2 on water. The mind is a very powerful thing. If you think what you're drinking is going to make you stronger than it actually might. But that's where it ends.
Yeah your mind controls it all but superpump is suger aspartame and caffeine free it brings water to your muscles for the swole effect most pre workout are effective but better with at least a gallon of water a day Caffeine is junk and is bad after your workout due to a sudden crash

Do you really think their shorter life spans are because of over the counter supplements? Maybe it's the ridiculous steroid abuse.
No its because the human skeleton is not supposed to support hundreds of lbs of muscle and 3-6% body fat is unhealthy not to mention they put 500+ lbs of freeweight on their body for 2-4 hours at a time just look at ronnie coleman yeah he juices but he takes tons of supplement and has to take over 30 pills a day for bones and cardiovascular health

Maybe you should have read my username. Just because I just joined this site does not mean I don't know what I'm talking about. All I was trying to say is that some people minds are a lot stronger than others. If you really want to progress in your workouts you should not rely on drinks and supplements that are really not good for your body. Learn how to focus without these things and you'll be much better off if you have any intentions of sticking with your workouts.
i totally agree the mind is strong, and i totally agree that one should not RELY on supplements, but they are definitely a powerful tool when taken properly. You should know that.

I totally agree with you that our body's were not meant to get to the size of some of these bodybuilders. It's almost as bad as being 300+ pounds of just fat. Your heart can only handle so much. But most of those bodybuilders are not even using the supplements that they are endorsing. They know it's 99% diet. As in REAL food. And to say he "juices" haha. Do you think the human body was meant to take hormones for cattle? I'm not sure who is putting 500+ lbs on their body for 2-4 hours but there are plenty of strongmen that put 1000+lbs on their body's for a minute or two and they are in perfect health.

You just agreed that one should not rely on them but than made it sound like they are beneficial. That is a contradiction. Many would also argue that testosterone is a powerful tool when taken properly. ?? Is there a boundry there? Because so many would not and have not taken testosterone properly it has become a reliance for the vast majority that have taken it. I see no difference with most supplements and energy drinks. If you're having a really off day and need a pick-me-up than ok. But the basis of this post I think was to find a pre-workout drink to take before EVERY workout. And I really don't care if you do take them before every workout. If that works for you, great. But it has never added anything to my workouts and I have been lifting since I was 13 and have proven myself in many competitions. The point I was trying to make is to stop looking for a "magic pill". You either have the determination or you don't. And don't try to tell me what Ronnie Coleman or other pro's take. Are you working out in their gym? Do you talk to any REAL pro's and and ask them what they take?

most body builders spend half the day at the gym and yes I know juicing is horrible
Well that is bodybuilders. My workouts last 20-30 min except for "event training days" which sometimes last for 2 hours. And why is juicing horrible? Have you ever watched "Bigger Faster Stronger"? It's a great documentary about steroids and supplements, check it out if you can.

I will never use roids the closest thing i would use is test booster
what's the difference? Test booster is over the counter and test is not? I have a friend that takes so much test booster he would be way better off taking the real thing. That's the whole freaking point. This thread was started to ask about pre-workout drinks that are really not good for you and not really beneficial to training. My advice was to not take anything. Eat healthy and workout regularly. If you start taking supplements it's probably not going to stop at over-the-counter stuff.

1) relying on a supplement and using one properly dont contradict one another whatsoever. With a proper diet as you said, you can have a great workout. A supplement can also give you that edge to make the workout that much better.

2)using a supplement every day doesnt mean to become dependent on it. Thats what cycling is for (again, that falls under proper use). And your arguement is completely extreme. We are talking about taking a pre-workout supplement drink, not roids or testosterone pills or the like. COMPLETELY different situations in terms of extremeties of usage.

3)I never said there was a magic pill

Alright but I still don't see how these drinks make your workout better. If you need a little energy than wouldn't a simple form of caffeine (coffee maybe) suffice. These drinks make claims like it expands you blood cells and what not. Is there any proof of this? Can you really tell me any pros that you know for a fact use this stuff and not just endorse it? I'm sure you have heard of Marius Pudzianowski? He has been quoted to say he eats a case of Snickers bars a day for energy. Seems to work for him. Does not really seem healthy to me but everyone's body is different. If you really feel a big difference from these drinks than great but I think you may as well be eating Snickers. I don't care for either but I'll keep taking no supplements and winning competitions.

Haha yeah Marius is known to eat like 2lbs of bacon a day along with 1lb of chocolate. But he is also juiced to the gills, so its hard to use him as an example.

I just don't understand why you would want to take a product that is only beneficial for a short term. If you ever need to use your strength/abilities in real life will you have the time to pop some pills/drink some drink?

I also don't understand the fascination with the "pump". In my experiences swollen muscles are uncomfortable and counterproductive while training, but to each their own I suppose. I am just surprised to see so many people spending tons of money each month on supplements that they don't understand or even know if they work.

Just take a real cycle if you are into spending that kind of money. its not like you are taking the healthy way by overusing stimulants and compounds that you don't even have a clue what they do.
