look around ebay for some used receivers. I got my yamaha for pretty cheap. It does everything I need. Sub out, 105x5, change levels on all the speakers large/small, just basic stuff. Got it like $30 shipped or so. I usaully will get the model # then search the net for msrp and the features and reviews, then bid. Next one will have all on screen EQ and menus though, but its cool for now.

i just bought that yamaha receiver.

and it is perfect timing cause im getting 2 100w yamaha subs with built in amps.

any recommendations for the center front and rear lefts and rights.

Good buy on the receiver. I have the RXV-2500 and it is definitely a solid peice of equipment.

Good call on the Yamaha. I'm using one that was packaged in with a HTIB. Thing has more features than I even have the equipment/room placement for right now. Plus, with good, non HTIB speakers hooked up, gets loud and sounds good enough for me.

I definitely want to upgrade though. I've tasted a bit of the seperates/better than average speaker set ups and want to go balls to the wall.

And to joe and IamDeMan, are you guys slightly bi-polar? You guys rip on the kid's stuff, then say "if it sounds good to you, it's all good" Or am I missing a memo about hazing people? No offense, but you guys leave me wondering sometimes.

doesnt really bother me when people rip on my shit.

i expect. it is old equipment. and i know they have quite elaborate and expensive so i cant really complain.

and hey i got it for 200 plus 58 for 2 day. im happy.

now just got to find some good monitors to use.

probably just gonna use the 2 big cabinets for now until i get enough for some decent monitors.

and already have subs so that gives me more money.

I only ripped on him saying they were "good" brands. That is my only beef. If someone is happy with the sound they get from anything that's fine and well and all that counts. Within most knowledgeable circles these aren't considered good. I don't consider and would never call what I have a good setup. What I do have is something I am happy with considering what I spent.
Just say what it is without embellishment.

Also ribbing people is fun.

I hope I have explained myself sufficiently.

every Yamaha sub I have hear has absolutley blowed. I mean if you got it at a good price then great, but probably will get better results building your own box and getting an amp from partsexpress and a sub from mach5 or partsexpress
