Polk for sure. I too have never been impressed with Alpine subs, Type R's in particular. i've heard numerous horror stories complaints from people on them. and yes, every sub is going to have them but Polk is very clean clear. POLK.

 
What are you looking for in these subs? Have you compared specs?

Let me tell you what I THINK.

If you are looking for SQ, get the Polk. If you are looking for SPL, get the Alpine. The Alpine won't produce as good of SQ that the Polk will produce, but the Polk most likely won't be able to get as loud as the Alpine. This is just what I'm thinking, so I'm basically taking a shot in the dark. Others, feel free to chime in.

As I said before, you can't go wrong. Its all about what you are looking for. And what is your gut telling you?

Sound logical so i might just keep the one I get for Christmas considering that is the one I asked for. Well not rely I asked for the momo version but I think my father knew that the newer one was better.
