PG 8v Line driver Less load for the amp?

Im sure this isnt true but, i keep thinking that my Phoenix Gold 8v pre amp line driver will make it easier for my amp to work.

Currently my deck outputs barely half a volt on the rca's and i have to turn my gain mighty high (90%) to get the RMS output needed.

I figure with a solid 4 -5 volts it will only be about 30% after its tested and tuned via dmm.

Anyway, wont it make it easier for the amp to make its power because it doesnt have to amplify the signal as much (from 0.5v to 5v)

I would assume that if i make it easier for the amp then i might eliminate some dimming issues?
