Paintballers!!! Should I buy this modded gun? Also stupid question

Been going paintballing the last few weeks as they came up with a new 1/2 price monday at my local indoor place, and it would be worth it for me to get my own gun.

I found this one for sale, its for sale form a paintball place, they say its supposed to work fine but havent tested it and its sold as is. Its a tippman 98 I guess, with ak47 magazine, big barrell, looks like double trigger, spy anything else?

Just curious if this gun would be a good starter gun, my friends have spyders etc with high feet per second and hurt like a *****, but arent very accurate, I only need like 100ish feet accuracy, but Id like some power behind them. Does the tippman perform ok?

EDIT: Pretty much set of probably going to buy this tippman gun that I posted above, probably will get it for like $130ish I hope. ANy opinions on the 16" barrell and what it will do to performance? slow down balls? do they really go that straight with it? How to get ALOT of velocity out of the thing...

If your using nitrogren or compreseed air they are between 3-5k. No that will not work with your average run of the mill compressor. And from the sounds of it your just using c02 and not nitro/hpa. Also, to fill our tank, I found this little valve, looks like it simply connects to my air compressor line, connect bottle to end, run air compressor and it fills up? Doesnt matter I just have a run of the mill air compressor that does 125psi? Itll fill the bottles up just fine?

If your using nitrogren or compreseed air they are between 3-5k. No that will not work with your average run of the mill compressor. And from the sounds of it your just using c02 and not nitro/hpa. Curious why it wont work with a standard "garage" compressor, looks like that is what it was design for, but theres no freakin info on it

And about the gun, could you compare say this tippman98 to a spyder or something, do certain gun shoots harder/faster in the sub $200 budget range

Well I figured this little valve would be doing the work and I wouldnt need a 3000+psi source

I think it may work though, I cant see them using that standard nipple fitting if it didnt? I'll have to research before I buy I guess

Not gonna matter one bit in CA. The reason you cant use a normal compressor is like you said, its 125 psi. If your using nitro/hpa its at least 3k. 3k>125. And for all intents and purposes a pirhana is the the same mechanically as a spyder. No gun is going to shoot harder/further(besides a flatline barrel) than another.. you can adjust the velocity on every gun to make it shoot faster.

Pirhanas are a pretty reliable/decent starter gun.

Well some gun to me OBIVOUSLY shoot faster/straighter than others straight out of the box.

Like is the tippman I pictured a descent gun that can be velocity adjusted on the fly from factory? never really held one before, let alone a modded one.

I get that my compressor is only 125 psi, and the tank needs 3000. But theres no way this little valve just pushes more and more and more air in there until you get desired pressure? I just dont get why a paintball place online would sell that if the typical guy couldnt use it. Just looks like what it was designed for to me

Ill have to grab some ebay links and post them up here for you guys to tell me if the gun are good or not. I just want a basic gun from this guy that will hurt my buds when I hit them and be RELIABLE lol

I really do like that tippman, but the guy not "knowing" if it works or not kinda bothers me, im sure i could rebuild it, since its gonna go for about a hundred bucks probly, but I dont want to rebuild...

Like i said tippmans are a good reliable starter gun. You can adjust the velocity on them with an allen key on the left side. So that tippman probably wouldnt be to bad eh, I know you can mod them alot, but I never would, just want reliable welt giving power lol, any idea how much you can "adjust" the velocity on them?
