Orion 2500d questions

I am considering buying an Orion 2500d to run my single DD 9512, I know that the sub says it is 1500rms at 2ohm, and the amp is 1700rms at 2ohm, looks like a perfect match on paper, is there anything I should know about the amp before I bite? Also with a stock 130amp alternator on a 05' Explorer, would I have to upgrade any of the stock electrical? Thank you very much.

you plan on running it at 2 ohms?

had one of those amps for awhile.......make sure u use both power and grounds.....also the amp does run warm

Yeah it will be ran at 2ohms until I am able to get another sub to match to run at one ohm... and hot as in dangerous, or hot as in warm?

yes be sure to use both ground/power hookups. Ive never noticed it to run warm at all but then again not saying it may. I might have just not noticed.

Now my crossfire vr804 is a different story...

amp wil draw some power but really only when at louder volumes. would recomend big three upgrade.

Okay, then really dumb question regarding the big 3, if I was to do it for the first time and I am a beginner, is there a risk of anything getting fried or such? Thats the only reason I haven't already done it. I am also planning on running a computer fan to keep it cooled, I have a HUUGEE fear of my car burning down lol

rofl. not as far as i know. i do believe the big three has been somewhat debated, cant remember if it was here or on the chevy site i frequent. some say it doesn't do anything, some say it poses a risk. in the six years ive been on this site ive never heard of anyones car burning down from it.

mine was mounted to the carpet on the floor of my truck for the past couple years and ive not had problems. maybe mount it to a piece of wood, or better yet build an amp rack to elevate it off the floor so it can breathe.

Same as one. I have a distribution block that has 0 gauge running into it. Splits out with two runs of 4 gauge to sub amp and once run of 8 to comp amp. Then I ran two ground cables to same point on truck
