Opinions..... why not ask right...

Alright, the f3 being tuned to 34 if I am getting all he is saying. Their site says the hds315 in 4 cubes should have a port length of 29 inches but my port length is only gonna be 19 ....I'm so confused

I can tell you from my experience with him that I am very happy with the way the box sounds, can it be louder, sure for a very small frequency range but then everything else coming out of it would sound like a$$, the box he built for me hits hard for one 12, and it plays loud and clear no matter what music I play which is exactly what I wanted because I listen to new order, the cure, bushwick bill, metalica, candlebox, band of horses, black eyed peas, ice cube, tool, lynyrd skynyrd, lynkin park, I could go on, basically any type of music accept country, I like the old school country but the new stuff I feel is going away from real country music and trying to mesh with pop or top 40, blah blah..... anyways you will not be disappointed with your box.

also I am doing the same thing with him as far as building the box and waiting till black Friday to order the 2 HDC4 18's. it gives me time to do all the wireing, make the amp rack, find a location for the extra batteries ect.

Yeah I listen to it all too. I'm sure I'll be happy with it especially since all I've ever ran were sealed boxes. I've researching and watching videos to try and figure all this stuff out. A lot more to it than it seems that's nor sure!

Anytime u change the width or length of the port it will change tuning ..u dont wana be tuned in the 40s ...u want to be in the 32-36 range ...4 cubes with 60 in of port sounds correct as far as box size and port area

here is what my box is :

image dynamics recommends a ported box 1.75 cu. ft. gross with a port frequency of 35hz and an f3 of 32hz -3db with a slot port 10"x1.5"x15.66"

what we ended up doing is:

ported box with 2.2 cu. ft. net ( after displacement means minus the port and subwoofer volume) tuned to 30 hz with an f3 of 29hz port is 13"x1.5"x26.26"

this works great for me and the subwoofer I am using, we went back and forth with ID and they agreed that this box will perform perfectly with this sub at 1000 w rms.

hope this helps

No this is just confusing the masses ...all the custom boxes ive had built ,designed and seen logs for have never mentioed f3 or whatever the *** u guys are talkimg about ..making things way more complicated than they have to be ..espcially for so.eone who has expressed that he has no knowledge in ported boxes..ive had my last 5 boxes designed by professional designers/builders and not once has this f3 come into question . Nor has the talks of a diff frequency at the end of the port vs various other spots in the port
