Older PG amps like the MS and MPS and the like were built when PG was breaking into the biz. I know I was there. They had to splash big or fail, so they pulled out all the stops, and they blew just about everybody away. But not for long...The only amp that sounded better back then was the very first Sony XES line, but they looked very poorly made inside
And yes for the early 90"S they were absolutely the sexiest amps on the market. but more over they delivered what they advertised and were built using only the highest quality devices. Their peer group was ZERO back then as no one used the quality components like they did. The closest competitor was ZED
PG also used VI limiting in most of those amps along with fuse resistors which prevented disastrous failures. I know of no other car amp company that ever used the safety devices PG did, and of the few that use some later on, it was on a very limited basis.
As for Morgan well I know him so I am interested in what he has to show and as far as him being with AAMP/PG well maybe he can also deliver like vintage PG did. I am watching myself to see whats up with the big Spin. I actually hope they pull something off. I was a loyal PG guy since 91 and would love to see something done with the name. unlike other buy outs that went to junk cookie cutter stuff...
The snap of the new stuff looks at first glace to be made in the JL slash factory. If so they have a good start cause the older JL slash lineup was also a market setter for years. Perhaps some more close up pics and more info very soon will help me to see what the big noise is about. Hopefully PG will distribute info to all site and not just the one in Canada using their name.
As far as everybody using the cliche of going back and what not well well this industry does have its share of Marketing, just like any other.
It would be interesting to see what does come out of this, but I must say it will be a FIRST to see something great appear from the ash's of a old and reputable name like PG. But I am hopeful....
