Old Battery vs. New

First off i have a g34 optima upfront and a powermaster d3100 in the back. I'm looking to get several more powermasters. The one i have is only about a month old. I have a chance to buy some used ones that are about a year old but used about 6 months. My question is will it really make a difference or would i be fine going with these used batteries? How long do batteries like that usually last?
