battery's how do i test them?

Well I just bought a NEW kinetik 2400 off someone here. Is there any way to test if its actualy NEW and not used? Also whats normal resting voltage of a new 2400. Or does that just vary? I also just got a DMM and confused what setting to put it on to test it

put the meter on DC 12volts and your battery should read 12.7 or higher if its good
