Ocatve setting?

Im trying to find out what this setting does on my sub amp. Ive tried both settings with no real results between the two. Can anyone further explain this setting?

just changes the slope of the crossover. The higher the number the steeper the slope.

it's kind of a personal preference thing -- for a sub amp I'd probably just set it at 24 and call it good. 24 is just a steeper cutoff than 12. What it means is -- let's say you set your low pass (hi cut) at about 80hz. One octave above 80 hz is 160hz. With a 24db/oct crossover the amp's output will be 24 db less, with 12 db/oct it would be 12 db less.
