noob type r questions

I'm looking to get a better amp for my two alpine type r's. I currently have only 500 watts going to both of them (go ahead and yell at me lol). I want to keep them in in the sealed box they are in now because I like how they sound. However, I also know these things can take alot more than they say they can. The box is about 1.2 cu ft. What kind of amp would do well in this situation for around or under $300. Thanks in advance.

by going with a ported box your subs will sound louder.

Yeah I know but one they are already pretty loud to me, two I don't have the money for another box. Thank you all though.

Try building a new box, it's not that hard. Just follow the instructions in your owners manual to get the sizes. I made a ported box for my buddy's 10" Type R to replace the sealed box he had it in, and he was amazed at how much more bass he was getting out of it. I never liked Alpines, but the Type R in a ported box was impressive.
