is there any website with detailed instructions on how to setup a 6.5" comp set? i can do all of it except the cross overs. i can do whole systems, amps, subs, coaxs, cd/dvd players. never done a comp set before. what exactly do the crossovers do, and how do i wire them up? im puzzled on this. any helps is appreciated. thanks. i searched.. found nothing

components are simple. the crossover just splits the signal between the woofer and the tweeter, and sends the highs to the tweet and the mids to the woofer. to wire it up, put the wire coming from your amp to the input terminals on the crossover, then wire the tweeter and woofer to the crossover accordingly. it ought to be clearly marked.

oh is that how its done? shit alot simpler than i thought. i figured i had to run wires straight to the comps. i got it now... **** easy shit. and i was afraid to even begin. i hate projects i think i cant do myself. but i hate having people help me unless i NEED them to help me. thinking of getting the poly Focal 6.5 2way set on woofersetc -- on sale, open box item. hopefully its still there by next week.

alright man thanks. i will. not sure on an amp yet.. im redoing my system. but starting the "real" way. best way i can say it.. doing subs and sub amps last. i wanna get my frontstage in check. get a new HU (just got a 390MP to get away from my dual, but i need better. thinking of the 7800MP) so i should hopefully be getting the comp set and HU next week. then ill get my comp amp next. thinking of the Kenwood KAC 2channel. does 150 x 2 @ 4ohms. should run them nicely, right? or is that to much watts for a tweet and midbass. considering of course it may be over/underrated. if u have any suggestions on a comp amp lemme know. budget is 250 for that. but not for a while

alright cool. thanks for the help. could i do a 6.5" in a 5 1/4 location? just make a MDF ring, and mount it over the stock location correct? only question i have is how do i tap into my door wires. where the rubber is coming from inside the car to the door that holds the wires. how do i get in there, i want NO wires showing at all except maybe a half inch coming out of the xovers

jman, your active 3way front stage. how does that sound? howd you do 6x9s in front? those mb quarts any good? i see some decently priced. or should i stick with my focal poly 2way set. wish i could go 3way, but they start around 300 which is a lil over my budget seeing that i wanna get my HU and comps at the same time.

It depends... what vehicle? Some are better than others for squeezing in bigger speakers. To get wires through the conduit, detach both ends, and scrunch it up to where it's as short as you can get it. Then, using something thin and tape the wires to em, like a coathanger, and thread the wires through.

Man my front stage sounds amazing if I do say to myself. I had factory 6x9's in my front doors, so i deadened the door really well and put 6x9 subs in there. I didn't actually buy a component set... I mixed and matched speakers to make a component set that sounds good. I'm also running them with an active crossover- all the filtering occurs on the RCA's, not the speaker wires. It's a bunch more adjustable than a passive crossover network, but also requires 6 channels of amplification.

The MBQs sound awesome, but there ain't a thing in the world wrong with Focals. They're excellent speakers, too.

alright sounds good. once i get them, and my amp. ill be sure to PM you with any questions i might have. i belive i can do this just fine myself. but if i need to, youll hear from me. thanks again for the help. i see not all of you are dicks lol. was waiting for all the "shut up 07er u ****ing noob gtfo, go read, go search" bla bla
