jesus christ.(rainbows) i was thinking of getting some kickpods made for my car. i belive this would be ALOT easier than a door install. right? id have someone make them for me. then i can leave my 5 /14 in the doors off of the HU power, run the comps off amp power, and eliminate my rear stage all together. my 390MP has a function called FIE. where it kills all rear highs, all u hear is the bass from the 6x9s but no vocals or highs and the front is all active. so if i put it on FIE, i can have all active on my 51/4 in front, a LIL midbass from my 6x9s in the rear, complete comp/amp for my front stage. i think my front stage will sound fairly decent. or should i remove my 6x9s all together? my seats fold down, but when i have people in the car i think the added wholes would greatly affect bass performance with the seats up. so i might just remove them.

So how does the comp set determine how many watts the speaker is getting vs the tweet? I am in the same boat as the original OP, I have installed everything but a component set.......

Never heard of the FIE feature before. Pretty cool. Kickpods would be nice- they'd improve your imaging. I'd keep the 5 1/4's out of the doors, though. One good component set up front would be plenty.

good question oben. how does it do that? is that the cross over? the tweeter xover part should have a different frequency range than the midbass, so it must filter out all no essential watts and give it very minimal. thats my only guess

yea i belive ill go to my local shop and have them fabricate me some kickpods. i was going to cut, sand, and fiberglass a lil on my door so my comp set could be seen. i like showing off hehe. not in a bad way tho.. i just think it looks nice as hell when your comps are visible

yea its on a lowend pioneer premier also. when i turn off my HPF filter, i get the use of FIE. so im guessing its for when you run a subwoofer and comp set combo. eliminates all unnesesary highs from your rears (if u have them) and projects all mids and highs to the front. the HPF i belive is for a coaxial/subwoofer setup. so u get no unnessesary bass response from your mids and highs when your subwoofer takes care of that. thats what i think anyway

The Avic D3 has a function similar to that with their theatre staging, but it sounds like crap. The 6*9's in my car sound like a woofer getting ready to die. I get nothing but TREB from the front speakers and all the bass goes to the rear speakers. Maybe I am just so used to having woofers, without em everything sounds like ***, but who knows.

All my speakers are designed to fit in with the overall look of my car.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sneaky.gif.7189749b3a3f769e8815b47e8ae87f88.gif
yea. i just love comp sets. they are the diamond in audio setups. if you dont have a good frontstage, what is there to brag about. if u cant hear your music clean and clear over your bass, whats the point in having any subbass. comps i belive are the most important thing in an install. depending on what kind of install your going for. im doing a full SQ install for my frontstage, but my substage i want to wang hard. not sure what i want yet. might get a 15" Q. stay with the SQ side of things, but i know Q's hit hard and low as well as sound good. so i cant go wrong with the Q

yup thats what this FIE function does. takes all the bass out of the front and moves it to the back. all u hear are highs up front, and bass in back. the front speakers dont even put out bass anymore. i belive this is for a compset install w/ the use of door speakers as well.

alright so im set then. get my 7800MP and my Focal Polymid 6.5 comp set next week. then get my Kenwood KAC. ill leave my 5 1/4 in front at first, see how it sound. but im sure ill end up removing them. dissconnect my 6x9's in the rear. then ill start searching for a substage. i need to re run my power tho. i have a 5GA right now. i wanna get a 2GA ran from batt to the back, and have it split to 2 4GA. one to comp amp, one to substage. with this "normal, decent" setup.. would i require a cap, or the big3? im guessing ill only need one of those once i get past like 2k watts of subwoofer power right?
