No More Maxima :'( (pic)

the picture doesnt emphasize the depth. its a whole lot deeper then you think in that pic, like i said it was far enought to knock out the panel where the window switches are, and the panel running between the doors. and if you lookin the middle you can see the where the pillar is in the middle of the car, and the metal pushed around it what looks like a door hinge or something.

and keep in mind, i think most of the damage to front fender came from the other car i spun into.

just look at the rear door and youll see its deep, then look at the top of it and see its out of line.

and if she hits me, drags along my car for a little, why would she keep going, even if shes doing like 25-30, wouldnt most of her force just go into me?

the rear door i think had most of the impact, the front had some and the front fender was from other car i think.

yea it kinda looks like she hit the door then dragged into the wheel and then that spun me.

i dont kno, what can i do now anyway?

That sucks. Good to hear nobody was hurt though.

On a side note, when I first saw the pic, I thought to myself "wow, a maxima with rear wheel steering... though not by choice"

First off let me say, Im no expert either! I have a buddy with a body shop and Ive seen/had explained to me alot of crashes over the years, but Im by no means any sort of expert. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Now on to me acting like one...

Contact your insurance company asap. Explain to them your thoughts on the situation. Believe me, they'll want to find fault with the other party too. If the damage in person indicates the situation you think happened, tell them. They should be able to advise you from there what your next step should be. Speak to a claims agent Id guess.

Laws of momentum wont allow her to simply stop dead in her tracks while you absorb 100% of her inertial energy. If she was moving at a decent rate of speed, her car should have pushed yours sideways while scraping down the side of it, and then probably continued abit. If hers impacted yours while she was going relatively slow, dragged down it as your car's momentum carried it along, she probably wouldn't have traveled far afterwards.

Sometimes people forget how much weight/momentum a car can have in an accident, especially if someone panics and doesn't hit the brakes at the apropriate time (or ever).

Lastly, Im totally guessing here, and from one picture over the internet. Take it with a grain of salt (obviously). Talk to your insurance agency (like now) and get the ball rolling. The sooner you do it, the more legit it will look imo.

oh we called them yesterday and my mom gave them all of the info, i didnt get to talk to them though.

in the next few days they are supposed to inspect the car at the towing place and go from there.

and actualy as i replay this in my head for the millionth time, she crossed the last lane AFTER impact.

b/c i remember the cop telling him to move the car, while i went back into mine and put it into neutral so he could try to push it out of the road.

i remember seeing the car reverse and looking straight at the radiator b/c the front end was gone.

so she after impact i'd say she moved a distance equal to about a lane and a half. i dont kno if anyone else remembers that though and i didnt take any pics till it moved into the shoulder.

If I you want to go cheap route - change rear arm, get rid of side airbag, buy new fender, pull out those doors and quarter panel, apply some putty, paint whole right side. That body work can be done for $1K in 2 days and you will need another $1k to buy missing parts form an auto salvage online or locally.
If you want to go expensive route - in addition to that just buy 2 used doors and swap them.

By the way here is a pic of my wreck... lol Again, the damage was almost exactly the same as yours. Front airbags did not deploy and everything was repaired in 2 days.

If u had any audio equipment in their. Photograph it then remove it before insurance or the body shop touches your car........TRUST ME. They dont know the difference between expensive and cheap and honestly i dont think they would care either way

we were gonna leave it till they towed it but i said no.

took out amp, then box with subs, and then battery.

only thing left is the wires in there, forget that, leave em in there too much work to get it out.

so i have a sundown 1500, 2 mags in a 5cube box and a HC1400 sitting near my bed, and a 100.4 on the way!

that box is bigger then i thought.
