Just posted this under amplifiers--seems like this might be the better place..apologies for the double-post.

New to the forums, so be kind...
I am installing an amp for the first time in my '67 Camaro. Instructions call for a direct line to the battery for power, with an inline 30amp fuse.

My question--If I already have an auxiliary fuse panel with an open slot--can I just run the power from the fuse block, instead of a separate line to the battery?

does it make that much of a difference?

Thanks in Advance.

It is better to have a dedicated fused wire run for the amp. They tend to get power hungry and may overload the wire that supplies all the power, possibly causing performance issues.
Also, I suggest an 4awg amp kit. It is always a plus to have the extra availabilty of power for future upgrades. It may come with an 80 amp fuse, which is ok to use. Your amp should have it's own 30 amp fuse onboard or mounted next to it.
Good luck. Awesome ride btw.
