I have a 02 Escalade. It comes with a bose system. I want to add some subwoofers in it but I don't know anything about subwoofer. I interested in Solo X 18" or JL w7 series. I need help on making a decision. I want a subwoofer that plays good with ALL types of music. I don't want a subwoofer that can only plays rap good but sucks at country. I want both!!! What is a SP or SPL or something like that? If I add the subwoofer do I need to change out all of my speakers or my bose speakers are good enough. I don't listen to really loud music (harmful to my ear:) but I would like to crank it up every now and then. I looking for accurate, precise, and a good system. Thanks for all the help!!!

wow! u really r a newb! ahh i remember those days.

1st u r 2 inexperienced 2 b messing w/ a solox. its like telling a student driver to drive a fomula 1 race car down the high way backwards.

sure its loud but it doesnt play music it just plays ***!

2nd of those 2 u r going 2 get the w7. end of discusion.

3rd dont get the w7. there r plenty of better subs for cheap (ask Around)

4th sq means sound quality- how good the music sounds

spl means sound preasure leval- how loud it is

5th who the hell drives a escalade and listens 2 both rap and country? u must b white

I suggest you start with something less intense, like a 12" or 15" Rockford Fosgate Punch series. If you truly are a newbie to car audio, you will be happy with these, and you won't have to modify your bling bling jeep to get it in, because they only require small amps and practically any enclosure to run. As for sound quality, once you come down to it country and rap beats are similar in construction, but different in intensity. At the level you're at, bass is bass.

I completely and whole heartidly disagree. He obviously has the money with an 02 escalade, and what exactly is the point of buying a shitty setup, then upgrading a few months later when you realize it sucks. He also mentioned SQ, which is sort of the opposite of most RF stuff. I believe that in your case, the W7 is a good choice. But if you want to save money(quite a bit actually) look into the Stereo Integrity Magnum D2 ( http://www.stereointegrity.com ) you would be very satisfied with that, a well as the Resonant Engineering XXX ( http://www.respl.com ). And in all honesty, one of any of those subwoofers is more than enough to damage your hearing, so you definetly don't need two. With the Magnum you would need the least power, with w7 2nd, and XXX needing the most. With the magnum you could probably get away with the stock electrical system. Good Luck.

What are some other good subwoofers that play SQ good? The solo X 18" is not a good SQ subwoofer? Is the bose speakers good or your would suggest me to change them out and get something better? Im basically looking for a very very good SQ systems in my car. So your could suggest anything your want. By the way, I going to get it installs by a pro. So don't let the installation hold your suggestion back. Thanks again!!!

if you really want to be cool and different go all rampage! i love rampage. but if your not cool go with magnum d2's and a tsunami 1800t amp. you guys probably might have mentioned this already but i didn't bother to read any of the last posts. yeah i know i'm an idiot but i'm bored.

what kind of equipment u lookin for? u mentioned more mainstream shit... do u want people to know the brands u have and show off wit them(mentioned W7) or or do u not care if its an underground company? just wondering

Hrm, well here's a possible system for you...

Magnum D2-300

Avionixx AXA 800.4 - 370

Avionixx AXA 1000M - 450

So far that is only $1120

For speakers you need to decide your tastes, or preferably go listen to some sets at a shop somewhere. I would recomend a set of very nice components, somehwhere in the 400 dollar range. And then some nice mid bass speakers for the back seat doors.

CDT Eurosport Components ~500

CDT Eurosport Midbass ~ 300

With all that you will be up near 2000, i would say a nice install will run about 600 or so, possibly a bit more. You will also probably need an electrical upgrade, a new alternator, and battery most likely. You will also need wiring.

Use 1ga power cable and ground, into a distro that puts out 2 4ga. You can obtain everything from http://www.knukonceptz.com

I think with all that stuff you would end up right around 3000 or so, and would have one hell of a system, good luck.

You could go with higher quality amps, but most likely depending on the price of the install you won't have the money for them, and probably aren't really necessary. As it is you will have a heck of a first system.

You may also want to add a different Headunit. Or does your Escalade have one of those Navigation systems, than you may want to keep it.

Do you want to have a large box in your escalade, or would you rather keep all the seats and as much storage room as possible?

You sub selection may differ if you want to build a large box for the back or tuck it into a small box in a side panel...

You can get more than enough volume out of a small box that's tucked into a corner panel. I used to run 2 IDQ 12's in a Tahoe in the place of the rear right panel and it was plenty loud. In my opinion, a discrete install is much more classy, which would match the class of an escalade.

I went to a audio shop today and ask the pro about putting the subs in the panel and he said that it would sounds better but its not going be a lot better because of the space.
