Alpine SWR-1521D Break-In

My Alpine 15" Type-R Dual 2 ohm voice coil sub came in today. I am running it off of a Planet Audio 2400W x 1 x 1 ohm amp (needless to say excess power). So I am running the sub at 1 ohm because I figured it would be more efficient and maybe keep my lights from dimming as they did with 2 ohm. Does 1 ohm create more distortion than 2 ohm? The amp IS stable at 1 ohm. Box is about 2.2 cu ft sealed.

Anyway, I've never had a brand new sub before so I'm not sure how this one should sound. I know the subs surround and spyder structure is tight right now. The sub is making a faint high pitch noise kinda when bass hits but not throughout the whole note, just right when it starts moving everytime. I hear these subs especially take a long time to break in so maybe it will get better. Is this true, and will the sub sound better over time? Should I just play it at normal volume to break it in? For some reason bestcarstereo.com didn't give me an owner's manual too. Thanks for your help.

u will have no more audible distortion at 1 ohm than 2 ohms. And it doesnt make sense that u said the lights dim at 2 ohms then at 1 ohm they dont as much. At 1 ohm the amp should put out more power meaning more electrical draw meaning the lights should dim more. U sure ur wiring everything right? subs dont really need a break in. the reason ur sub is making noises is probly cuz its getting so much power.

Well, I meant that if I pushed the sub as hard as I did a one wired for 2 ohm then I would need like half the power from the battery/alt. to do it since there is half the resistance. Yes, at 1 ohm it has the ability to produce more power but I am not using all the power I can, just what is needed to get about the same power I had going to the 2 ohm one. Sounds logical to me, which is why I went ahead and got the one I could wire into 1 ohm. And no I don't think it was getting too much power because I didn't turn it up that loud. I have just heard that subs sound better after they have been broken in for a good amount of time.
