Newbie amp advice needed

I have just installed a new SOny CD player in my 98 Taurus and I am wanting to replace my door speakers and get a good amp to run the new speakers. They will be probably 6x8's or 6 1/2. MY cd player is just 17 rms so I would like possibly 50x2 rms. I see so many brands that I really dont know anything about. If you all could please post 4 0r 5 brands that would be good.

Thanks

Steve

First, identify a price range you can afford. then go to a website that allows you to specify specs of an amp which meets your needs. C R U T C H..F I E L D is a good place to go, as are most big-box retailers' websites. then, when you find the amp you want, buy it on e..B a y for less than you could elsewhere.

A word of advice: buy new, not used, not refurbished.

Good luck!

crutchfield sucks, there prices are WAY too high

Thanks everyone. All these post gives me a good starting point. I would like to stay below $100 on the amp if possible. I guess my first concern would be to find what speakers to get and the wattage rating. I have read that 2 door speakers and a amp would be better than 2 doors and rear deck without the amp. I'll keep reading and learning and keep checking ebay.

I agree. You may have missed the point in my original post: you use these sort of sites to identify what amps fit your needs. You don't buy them at these sites. Instead, you go to eBay and buy them there and save a bunch of $$.

You just use the other websites to help you identify what fits your needs. I never buy from Crutchfield unless I cannot get it anywhere else, or they have a REALLY good deal (this has yet to happen).
