Dual 4. Do you plan on adding a second at some point?

I might, depends on how much money i have.

I still need more info on amps!!!!!!! If im getting the ssa dcon, what amp should i get? What types of amps are there?

Thanks for responding haha.
What kind of vehicle? toyota corolla

Do you have a head unit? No, i have one that came with the car.

Are you looking more for sound quality, loudness, or a mix of both? I really just want descent quality bass and loudness. so mix, but more loud.

are you concerned about saving space in ur vehicle or does box size not really matter? smaller the better, my car is small, but i have the whole trunk for it to fit in.

Do i need a head unit?
Well you have three options basically on the head unit situation. 1 - Buy a head unit. 2. Buy a line out converter that youll tap into your rear speakers to get the rca output. 3. some amps have a high input where you can tap in directly. try to stay away from number three. some line out converters arent too bad and can put out a 4v preout for fairly cheap. if a headunit is in the budget definately go that way as it will make the entire system sound better.

If you go with dcons, which ive never owned id imagine youd want to build a ported box. (anyone w/ ssa's please chime in). but in general if you want the least amount of space taken up sealed is the answer. less output usually but gives you better range. ALtho w/ just a single 12 you can build a box a variety of ways depending on how you want your trunk space to be.

Thanks, so im gonna go with buying a head unit, do you recommend any specific unit? im not looking to spend alot. And how should i build the box? and what type of amp should i get? and should i get dual 4ohm or single? is there a difference?

Accually im going with a converter.

Well for single din non-video units i personally would only go eclipse or alpine. if you went w/ a dvd unit(obviously a bit more) kenwood excelons are good and i even liked a Panasonic one i had. some people like pioneers but some comes down to personal preference on how you like it.

Dual ohm woofers have advantages in the versatility in how they can be run on different amplifiers. say if you have a dual 4, you can run it at a 2 ohm load if your using it by itself(just make sure the amp you get runs 2ohms - most do well these days), or you can run it at an 8 ohm load if you ever add another. then 2 subs runing at 8 ohms ran together will split to make a 4 ohm load on your amp. or if you get 4 subs you can get it to a 1 ohm load etc.

And for the box, ports, slot ports, sealed will all give you a little different sound. with one twelve id recommend ported to get a decent amount of output. will sound well in sealed but you my find yourself wishing you had a little more output. Again if you go with a dcon ill let someone else give the final recommendation on the box. Ive had good success building myself some slot ports, but not 100% on the best setup for the SSa's

Thanks, Well i was thinking as cheap as possible. $100 for a head, i might go with the converter cable though. And for an amp, I want something that will last and that works well with the ssa dcon. i really ahve no idea on amps, so im just gonna throw out a $200 budget, not sure if this can get me something descent or not.

well look in the classifieds on here, or on ur local craigslist. ull be able to find something decent for $100. and if you have $200 for an amp you can definately get something nice. If your only interested in buying new than it changes things up a little bit.

Can you recommend some amps for me because i really have no idea, or could you just tell me the specifications of an amp i should buy. Like how much wattage or whatever.

look for amps that low thd ratings.. these amps will produce good quality sound.. check out audioque, they are not the only brand but they build quality amps for cheap.. and they provide many options.
