New System, Questions

My cousin just got a new system for christmas and I got his old system, so I am trying to piece it all together. First off I have two Jensen KS 10 inch subwoofers in a bandpass box, link below, with a Phoenix Gold Tantrum 500.2 Amplifier, link below as well, along with a professionally built single 10 inch ported box.

Now first off, one of the subs, when I push down gently on the cone, it makes a scraping sound, where the other does not. I'm worried it may be blown. Secondly I have heard that Bandpass boxes may be sloppy sounding and can be bad for the sub because it "disguises" the wear and tear on the subwoofers. If the one sub is indeed blown then I would obviously opt for the singular ported box because I have also heard bandpass boxes are built to specifications and the other subs you put in there wouldn't work as well.

Now...I already have a co-worker who wants to trade me 2 12' audiobahns in a ported audiobahn box along with an amp. I'm unsure of the amp brand or type at this rate.

I'm kind of swarmed by all of this as this is my first audio system. Any advice would be great.

Jensen or audiobahn? Is one better?

Is ported or bandpass better for trunk applications?

Also I will be listening to mainly heavy metal and rap, along with rock, and house/techno.

Sorry for the long post, thanks for the help

Thank you for the quick reply. I will follow your advice but two more questions. Should I use polyfill or anything inside the box and also should I carpet or coat it or will that not affect/help the sound?

And secondly how would I wire it up with one of those sub's? All I can think of is 500w bridged but that's higher than the sub's. Could I just use one channel at 250 or what?

For some extra peace of mind, you could do a big-3 upgrade with the same 4 guage ofc wire.

Disconnect the amp for a day or two, then connect it back up. If it stops draining when unplugged then drains again, take it back and have them...

I would also recommend checking all the amps wiring to make sure secured/ tight and ground is solid and remote making solid contact in the terminal
