New system in my 2000 Expedition.

I need your help. I'm not very knowledgeable in the car audio world. I used to have a nice system about 7 years ago. I overpaid at an audio dealership. I just recently got a 2000 Expedition. I put a Premier DEH-P880PRS deck in. Now I want to put a couple of 12" subs and an amp. I have no clue what to get or what's good. 1 channel or multi channel, how many ohms, or what brands. I should already have a box, my old box from a 79 chevy. I'm looking to spend around $400 or $500. I used to have a mtx amp and subs, an alpine deck, and a kicker component set. I want something that sounds like that or better than that used to. Please help. Thanks a lot. Jesus

4-500 for bass only? for your sub amp you'll want a 1ohm stable amp.. pick the subs of ur choice...

i'd say for that price range, look in the classifieds section.. or look up some alpine type-r's, and a ~1000w@1ohm amp to run em....

you'll probably wanna eventually get some components for your doors... a buddy of mine threw components in all four doors, with a 4 channel amp.. but you could always just throw the compnents in the front and do coaxials in the back doors...

edit: sub amp = mono (1 channel) will be the best for ur price range

i suggest you do your research before buying anything. make sure you know exactly what you are paying for.

for subwoofer(s), you'll want a mono amp.

for a pair of speakers, 2-channel amp.

for 4 sets of speakers, 4-channel/multi channel amp.

couple good brands i personally like are kicker, rockford fosgate, jl audio, image dynamics, jbl, phoniex gold, diamond audio, mb quart, alpine, orion, and hifonics. of course, some of those companies make better subs/speakers/amps than others.

O.K. so after about an hour of reading in the type r thread I've decided to get a pair of these. Next question- 2 ohm or 4 ohm. I'll probably go with the Hifonics BXi1606D amp. So will this give me some good bass? Again thanks for the help.

D4. And I can get you both type-r's and the hifonics at alil more than ebay pricing but with warranties...pm me more info...

We went through this already didnt we? Get Dual 4-ohm subs and wire them to a 1-ohm final load...
