New substage, getting serious..

Well after not hitting 140 with the SDCs in my car, I'm bound to crush 140 now. Of course not a 150 in a trunk but I'm aiming for a mid to high 140. Anyways, besides the numbers, I have a few things in mind already.

First I'm looking into a Soundigital amp, I already talked to the owner and he said they can special order me a 3000D which puts out closer to the 4kw range.

My box I'm trying to keep at the 4 cubes net, my trunk isn't going to hold much more and I'm going for 2 12s.

Some subs I'm looking at are the

Fi BTLs

Fi BLs with upgrades

DC XLs

HDC3

Also I was looking at the Stetsom 2k5E but no subsonic filter and after reading threads of people favoring Soundigital, I'm probably just going to go for that 3000D.

Now as far as electrical goes, I'm picturing a HO alternator and a yellow top in the back. How much is a HO alternator?

So advice on which of the two amps and subs, as well as the price of an HO alternator for a 02 Camry would be greatly appreciated.

By the way, this is a daily driver.

talk to corey he was doing good trunk score off 1 10" 42's i think last i knew and it was off alot less power then you would think. the yellow top id pitch and get a batt for audio. and when you pick out you amp you will know what alt to get

run the 2 12" BTLs inverted... BTLs and Xcons have some of the sexiest rearends ive seen! **** numbers, shake sum shit up 1st! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

My best number out of my Camry was 147.. Stetsom 7Kd and pair of TC-2000 15's. Really a shitty trunk to get loud. 1 strong extra battery + HO alternator should support 3K. I got my Camry alternator from Maniac Motors (on eBay) for 150$ ish. IIRC it was only 130A or so, worked pretty well (though I used 2 extra batteries) and they were fast and friendly to work with. 200 ish A alternator will be closer to 300-350$ range. My current alt is from Excessive Amperage, it works great and Nathan was really great to deal with.

FYI you can get 7.5 to 8 cube gross in that trunk. PM me if you want to bounce ideas off me I did a LOT of re-builds and testing in the camry.

Yes, the Camry is a terrible car to get loud, and the sunroof helps that statement even more. I'll check out the alternators you guys listed. And I'll take a look into Kinetik batteries as well. I know I can get more cubes in the trunk but I currently have an amp rack I'm planning on keeping which is why I want a small footprint amp.

It'll still be about 2 months before I get everything going but maybe by then I'll seal off the trunk and have the subs firing into the cabin. If you have some pictures to post up, I'd be interested in getting some new ideas though.

And what is everyone feeling about the subs? I'm really digging the BTLs...

you were doing something COMPLETELY wrong then.. 147 on 7k.. and bigger is not always better.. 1 12 or 15 may be better than an 18 or a couple 15s or 12s.. if all you want is numbers tune higher.. or you could have an interchangeable port..

1 fi btl 15 off 3kw-4kw in 3 cubs @ 33hz. make it fit.

make it fit

make it fit

make it fit

ive played around with lots of setups in the past few years and I'm in love with the results from that box and sub. does mid 140's all day. hits 60-80hz great, 40-60hz stupid loud )peaks around 45hz ish), and still goes down to 30hz with lots of authority on the lows. incredibly musical and still loud as hell. 2.5kw sounded good, 3.5kw-4kw reallly let it shine.

I should preface that by saying I was tuned to @ 28hz. I was using a 5.1 surround HU and I wanted low tuning for movies.

Same box with a pair of 12" LMS 4000's but subs firing forward

These delivered more output

If the car was still on the road and I wanted to get loud I'd definitely seal off the trunk and mount to that hole there where loud might happen (at the expense of low extension) This box firing to the rear gave me much more low freq than facing forward.

Forget the Soundigital.

Check out Crescendo. Those amps put put out crazy power, and the customer service is second to none. A Crescendo 3k @ .5ohm on a loaded BTL 15 would be extremely loud.
