New Sub Stage(DC vs AQ).....

Ok I've asked this question before but I've definitely narrowed it down to these two brands. So for my new setup it will either be:

1. (2) DC level 3 12"s

or

2. (2) Audioque SDC2.5s 12"s

Audioques will be in 4.5netcuft box tuned to around 36-37hz

DCs will be in 4-4.2netcuft box tuned to 32-34hz

Planning to push 1400-1600wrms to either of the pairs.

Here's a quick rundown of what I am looking for:

I am coming from a type R 12" off 600wrms tuned to 32-33hz, and I love the lows that it is giving me. However I find that it just isn't loud enough for my tastes. Because I like the lows I was thinking more along the lines of the DCs, however I am almost positive that the AQs will get louder due to the higher box tuning. I am open to any suggestions for subs and I am in dire need of an amp suggestion. Looking for an amp that puts out 1400-1600wrms at one ohm.

Also I am reading the specs for DC level 3's and it says Impedance

D 4 or 2ohm. Does this mean either a dual 4 or dual 2 config or dual 4 or a single 2 ohm

you're right on the D4 thing

They AQ still play well down low under the box tuning, don't let the recommanded tuning fool you

I had the sd2.5 and i loved them. Can't really say anything on the dcs

IMO box for the AQ's should be no bigger than 3.5 and around the same for the DC's. Both are loud and both will make you happy.

The DC's will have a smoother response in the lower freq. where the aq's will seem louder at the higher freq.

I'm about to buy some SDC2.5s, but I'm recommending DC lvl 3s to a friend just to try new things out. It's a toss up really.

Thanks a lot to everyone and for the help but I still can't decide. And thor which made you happier you hdc3s or your new lvl 5s? Also anyone have an idea as to which would be louder on the meter bc I plan to compete in the lower classes of usaci 1000 to 2000 or whatever it is and I would like something able to be ranked if that makes any sense

really is a toss up... gonna be very minimal differences.. if any audible... i'd go sdc's... I love the "pop" AQ's deliver... great sound for street beatin. i'd have gotten them if they could take 1200+ daily, SAFELY

I am really leaning towards the AQs but not 100% yet. Anyone have any recommendations for a 1400-1600wrms amp to push two 12" SDC2.5s? I was thinking a Saz-1500d but they are kinda expensive even used(around 325$) which isn't bad but i would like to spend a bit less.

I vote AQ of course. An AQ 1200D would push 2 12's just fine. and you'll be saving almost 100 bucks.

if you play with the gains....you could always do cheap power...and get a PA A3000db.. you would get ~2k rms at 1 ohm.

Just as a comparison, my aforementioned friend has a single 12" fi bl off a 1200d, so how would this setup compare in loudness? I know usually more cone area=louder, but will it be noticeable?

Should be louder. If the install is done correctly.

Care to explain how people could possibly make the decision otherwise? In my area there isn't even a Best Buy or Circuit City, let alone a top-notch audio install shop. I have, quite literally, no way to hear RE/AQ/Sundown/DC/DD/IA/RD/ID/etc first hand before buying, and certainly no way to hear ALL of them to make a compare and contrast amongst 'em all.

Learn how a woofer works-

then learn how each manufacturer builds and designs the woofer

then choose the design that you think best fits your application.
