i have 4 mtx 6000 10's, and i love the way they slam and sound and everything, but the frequency response ****ing sucks. its 31hz-150hz. ive been looking at the s 10's and they have the same rms wattage as mine, but have a way better frequency response. how do these sound? i want to get good bass-midbass out of my subs, still have the same hit but dont want to spend a fortune on say a bunch of w6's or something, im not too partial to jl subs anyway.

thanks

oh,ok.....well personally i've never heard them before, so i'm not really "qualified" to give u an opinion on them. I have mtx6000s though and i know what ur talking about, i'm soon upgrading to 2 E12k's though....u should maybe consider them. They are amazing subs especially for the price. just a suggestion.

If you want midbass then go and buy some components and run a seperate amp to them. You cant get midbass out of subs, they are only meant to handle 100 or lower. 8in subs can handle up to about 150 but i wouldnt go any higher than that. 10's are good for about 100 to 35 hz. 12's are good for about 80/85 to about 25 hz. 15's are good for around 75 to 20hz. Below 20hz the human ear cant hear it, so it is a waste of amplifier energy to play these extremely low frequencies and that is why a subsonic filter is useful but they are only required for a ported box.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ok. if subs can handle up to like 100 hz, how come i see some with frequency ranges up to like 2000 hz. i have a subsonic filter on my amp. but my subs only go down to 31 hz anyway.

it can respond up to that 2000hz, but why? you'll get cancellation when the midrange is playing the same freq.

heres why

with my speakers, i have to have a high pass filter on them from my deck, because if i run too many mids to them, they're too quiet and get really distorted and you cant hear them over the subs. im thinking about getting the pioneer tsd 6.3/4 and have an amp running to those to make up for my lost mids and some cleaner not so sharp treble, but nonetheless, it would be nice to have some subs that would respond at a higher frequency.
