Is this a good setup? Am I getting ripped off? Suggestions?

Amp: JL JX500/1D : $249.99

Sub: 10W6v3 ProWedge Sealed : $549.99

Components: Focal 165 AS : $259.99

Processor: AudioControl LC2I : $99.99

Wiring kit: JL Audio XD-PCS4-1B : $119.99

Installation Costs:

Amp: $150

Components: $175

Processor: $50

It would help a lot if you could describe what kind of installation you're getting. What I mean is are they building speaker adapters as needed on site, are they going to cover high traffic parts of the interior and body to prevent damage, are you getting soldered and heat shrink protected connections, etc? If you said which shop it is that might help, as certain shops are known for putting out consistently outstanding work.

Sorry, CarToys would be performing the install. I am not familiar with any of the specifics you mentioned. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Before you make an appointment I strongly recommend you bring the car to Soundscape in Plano. I'm not saying anything bad about Car Toys, but I think you ought to explore another option from a shop that really raises the bar for quality. soundscape

you won't be amping your focals? because the lc2i is for 2 channels only. you can probably save money if you buy things somewhere else and don't use jl "pro wedge" I'm sure youll be happy with it but better can be had with a little patience and shopping around.

I listened to the Focals with an amplifier and wasn't able to notice much difference. I could buy elsewhere, however if I do not purchase from an "authorized" retailer I wouldn't have any type of substantial warranty. Going with the "pro wedge" because it should be an easier resell.

Installing yourself really isn't that bad. Patience and Youtube is all you need. Do your research and you'll be fine. You'll save install costs and get better/similar/same items for cheaper. As for your resell point, there are many, many brands that will resell just as good (especially forums) and will outperform and be cheaper.

Also, for the warranty comment... Buying from an authorized dealer OR most websites (Sound Solutions Audio

But I understand that some people geniuinely don't want to do it themselves, in which case I would take Trumpet's advice.

still gonna get lowballed lol. An amp will make the biggest difference in a proper car listening environment along with sealing and deadening the doors. You'll have literally zero midbass kick without either of those.

The LCI 2 is not really classified as a processor, its just a fancy line out convertor that puts out a strong output voltage. A legit processor is something like an audison bit one or jbl ms-8.

If i were you, i'd tone down on the sub budget and get a proper Digital signal processor or speaker amp and focus more on acoustical treatments to your car.

this will hang with the W6 any day.

wiring kit is a rip off too. OFC wire is OFC wire, why pay double when you get the same quality with knu or sky high.

Thanks everyone for the great information.

I will be further investigating these recommendations and gathering opinions.

Any other suggestions\recommendations is definitely encouraged! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/bowdown.gif.b85b23b82970bd22fb6b549c3392f016.gif
