The amps that I listed are all underrated and put out around 1400+ watts. The Brutus amps are all overrated. So it isn't farfetched. Back in the day I used to see the little Punch 45 amps running an entire system blowing out 600+ watt plus swap meet amps. Compared to JL Audio, Kicker, Sundown, Alpine, etc yes 1000 watt amps from those and other brands with a proper install will consistently outperform the dirty watts from the Brutus or Zeus lines.

You're saying that the Hifonics 2606 only does 50% of it's rated power. You're also saying that the amps you listed do almost 50% more than rated power...you'd be lucky to get that kind of clean power at 16V, but realistically you won't see 50% over rated from any of the amps you listed in a normal install.

I've used Sundown amps, and love them. But I wouldn't be dumb enough to say that the SAZ-1000 will walk all over a 2606 as far as power is concerned.

$270 difference... That rockford will do 2500 or so in the most optimal conditions.. not seen every day... that hifonics will do 2500 everyday conditions if you keep the power up....

I am actually having a good time getting fools like you upset. In all honesty I do not care less about Hifonics. Never used it never will. I am not stupid enough to spend my money on it. I have my thoughts on Hifonics and I think for the money they are a decent brand just not my cup of tea. QUOTE]
It's ok for people to have an opinion about products they do or do not support and i can respect that, but it sure seems like you have a very emotional opinion about a product you have "never used and never will".

Perhaps if you were to try one you might just change your mind.

When API bought Hifonics, fired all of the engineers and took the product over sea's to be designed and engineered, it killed not only the quality of the product but it also killed their reputation.

When we bought Hifonics and fired the people at API, we hired back the original Hifonics engineer from generation I to generation VIII.

We design and engineer our own products just like Hifonics used to in the old days except we now do not hand insert and hand solder components.

We use high precision auto insertion and wave soldering equipment for better reliabilty and dependability.

The old amps used to be $1.00 per watt.

If you still want that kind of product, buy XXV amps.

If you can't afford that, buy Brutus and Zeus.

They are designed and engineerwed by the same guy that designed the old amps but of course they do not share all of the really expensive components that go into the higher end amps.

If you want to compare old vs, new then compare apples to apples.

Compare Generation VIII to XXV and I can assure you the the XIII will not hold up to the XXV in performance, efficiency and long term durablity.

Hifonics has done pretty well the last 7.5 years considering how many other companies have tanked or are in serious financial trouble.

This is just my opinion and no hating on others opinions.

This forum is not just about opinions but it's about getting factual information and sharing it.

Hifonics makes a great product for the price.. key idea is for the price.. I have had two 2006 model 1600 watt Brutus, both put out alot of power and kept me very happy for the price however I did blow my second one... I wish I had Kicker 1500.1s instead or similar but you can't even compare cause of price... As far as calling something of "Swap Meet" quality is just stupid, I just picked up an alpine mrv-f250 for $25 and a JL 12w3v2 for $7 at my local swap meet, swap meet prices but quality products...

When there are responses like that on the forum, then I have nothing but respect for what is being said. I wouldn't really say I was being emotional just bothered when these 20 something year old kids get on here and start putting people down. We can go back and forth all day however when it gets to a point to start attacking a person because their views cannot be changed then that is when we have problems. While I might never like Hifonics, at the very least I respect your brand a little more than before because of your analysis of the product and the company.

EDIT - put system in that car in 99 I think, not shure of price of the punch, was on sale at brandsmart I think

my first system was a little punch 150 in the trunk of my 72 lemans with huge rust issues.

so basicly that little punch amp lived in a puddle of water constantly. ( no garage for my cars )

had it in there for 8 years. sold the car, kept the amp. still works to this day. amazing.

my vette now has a bxi1206d - wich im guessing puts out 900w at 14 ish volts for daily use.

runs cool, gets loud - is pretty satisfying to the ears - but I dont see this amp lasting 10+ years like my little punch amp did, and continues to.... - but for the price point - if you just wana get loud on the cheap - then there is no problem buying hifonics - just know its not in it for the long haul. - I paid 180$ for the hifonics - and I think I paid about $120 for the little punch forever ago. you get what you pay for in life. thats just how it goes.

a punch 150 was a lot more the 120 bucks new back in the early 90's..more than likely over $300

Try $550. I bought one brand new in 1990. The Punch 75 was $350 brand new. Even now they go for about $180. The punch 150 easily put out 400 + watts. We used many of them. Even the punch 45 was a beast. The Punch 75 not as impressive.

After all the Hifonics bashing I have done, I am considering a BXi 2010D to run my Digital Designs 1508s! Since this is my last SPL build, I figured I may as well go with a lower cost Class D amp since I intend to use it for a year or less. My reasoning is why should I spend the extra money on a "high end" Class D amp if I don't intend to use it outside of the warranty period? Besides, in all the ragging I have done, I have come to realize that they are not bad for the $$ paid!

Also, I never thought I would need to run 1,000 watts RMS to a pair of 8s or 1,500 watts RMS to three 8s. If someone would have suggested that I would be running this much power to 8" subwoofers ten years ago, I would have laughed in their face!
