So you've seen a 1kw amp outperform a 2.5kw amp? Please tell me you're joking. While I agree that Hifonics Brutus amps are nothing special, to say that an amp rated at less than half of the Brutus will "consistently outperform" it is ridiculous.

The amps that I listed are all underrated and put out around 1400+ watts. The Brutus amps are all overrated. So it isn't farfetched. Back in the day I used to see the little Punch 45 amps running an entire system blowing out 600+ watt plus swap meet amps. Compared to JL Audio, Kicker, Sundown, Alpine, etc yes 1000 watt amps from those and other brands with a proper install will consistently outperform the dirty watts from the Brutus or Zeus lines.

They are one of the best selling companies out there and at the swap meet where they sell hifonics they also have kicker,jl audio,and rockford fosgate.....but hey you know everything chode......

Hifonics is a good brand. (As well as Maxxsonic.) Their amps are a bit over-rated. But they're really good budget wise. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. Although it's an inferior good, it's still not garbage.

and what makes "clean" watts?

in a car with a 60 amp alternator and a stock battery, a rockford 1k will perform about the same as a hifonics 2600, and chances are the hifonics will get voltage drops and blow. Duh

On a proper electrical, you just sound like an idiot.

Oh, and hifonics amps do rated power with proper electrical, its been tested (including the brutus, there is a thread somewhere on here, im not sure if its been linked yet).

Are rockford/kicker/etc better? No. All those companies do is make an amp that benches at 1300RMS, then they rate it at 1krms to look badass. This strategy also comes with a fat price tag.

Hifonics amps that put out 1200RMS, are rated as so. And they do not come with a stupid price tag.

If you know how to run your equipment and to a proper install/tuning, then theoretically the amps will perform to their specs.

Not trying to split hairs, but the OP/thread was about the Brutus line of amps. None of which are on this impressive list of wins. Just making the point

there have been impressive numbers with brutus amplifiers..

such as jake ballards lincoln ls, was doing a 160.0 with 8 bxi2608's on 4 15's.

or pstrumers explorer. he was running 4 bxi2608's on 4 type-r 12's and doing around a 154's in street c.

good point, but I have to ask how efficient each of the amps are compared to Hifonics. That would be interesting to see.....Also, how is customer service with them? All I have heard is great things from Rockford and kicker.

You get what you pay for. A $400 price tag for a Brutus 2608 sounds cheap and an amp like that will initially perform well but is made with cheap parts and will not last. What a joke, I would rather pay the extra money for good quality for a amp that's severely underrated and have it last for 10+ years than for a cheap overrated amp that I will have to replace every year and a half. Kicker, Old Hifonics, Fosgate, etc, etc all have very long records of excellent relability not the Brutus or Zeus crap. Those amps come a dime a dozen. I have seen too many of those cheap Zeus and Brutus amplifiers fails at the shops. That's why they are so cheap in price. JUNK pure JUNK

lol at the people who try to compare entry level amps to RF and sundown....show me world championships won in spl with RF prime amps or all the way back to RF series 1 amps (all entry level stuff) its all a mute point as you guys are more or less are trying to compare a cobalt to a corvette when it has no place being compared...two totally different markets

You are 100% right. If comparisons were made with the XX lines of Hifonics then yes. Quality of XX lines is excellent and I rest my comments.

hmm let me think back....autotek used to be made by stillwater now owned by maxxsonics.im sure some technology went with the sale.

and back in the day when series 1 fosgate and punch 45's were on top two companys stepped up and embarrassed them with amps that outdid them for less.....who remembers?
