i want to know if I used a wood enclosure the size of my trunk would that still function as an ib install?

I will be using the pyle bluewave 15's in my 2003 honda civic lx four door. Also i want to find a way to keep the bass inside my vehicle so I dont attract attention any idea on how I can go about that as cheap as possible?

ps....there is 12 cubic feet of airspace in my trunk.

Oh boy. First of all. Pyle is ABSOLUTE garbage and is more likely to burn your car to the ground than give you bass.

If you want a good sub. give us a budget and we can help you out or buy local with our advice.

Second, IB is really simple. You want the front of the subwoofer COMPLETELY sealed off from the front.

^^Essentially what your aiming for. Seal up the holes in your back deck as well.

As for bass in your vehicle.

Actually many diyma guys use the Pyle PL1590BL because they are perfect for ib and i know what good brands are i have a image dynamics idmax 12. Would building a box around the trunk work the same though. I want to limit rattles and flex. I could use ultra light mdf to lower the weight and seal it up inside with resin or whatever. I also thought about a 4th order bandpass with a low power cap of say 600 rms as a possibility as well with another sub.

Yea, the bluewaves are well known as good IB subs for car. But if you already have an idmax, I wouldn't change it for bluewaves. IB is essentially open air, so you wouldn't want to seal up the trunk. Like Camry stated, it's more about sealing the trunk from the cabin. You actually don't want separation from the trunk and the outside environment

Yeah I like the idea of having low end and midbass from my subs which is what the pyles do in the ib setup. I dont want to put the idmax in the car because im not letting someone steal it. Im going to use it in my home theater setup.

Yep, those pyles are super popular. You can find a set on Jet.com for around $100. You could always do that and sell you idmax and come out ahead.

IB can benefit greatly from surface area. Granted the idmax is a superior sub, 2 Pyle 15s would trump 1 Idmax 12.

All that said, the idmax is a great IB sub if you do stick with it. Just take time to set it up correctly.

Like many car audio guys Im a subwoofer collector haha. I already have two of the pyle 15's and four of the 12's too actually and more subs. I have 4 inch subs all the way up the scale to 18's of various brands. They dont pay any rent though they are freeloaders.

Yeah, I think lots of us are! It drives my wife nuts! I've read about those Pyles over and over on DIYMA. Have you actually had them installed IB? Curious to know your thoughts compared to the IDMAX's SQ (assuming the IDMAX was also IB).
