new critical mass sub...

It's not 96.7 dB efficient by any accurate measure... that is with 2.83v which is 1-watt at 8 ohms, they spec that at 0.75 ohms! Thats about 10-watts... so the sub is really only ~86-87 dB efficient at 1-watt.
i highly dought your calculations. that would be an extreme bad measurement and very misleading.

to tell you the truth i don't like crital mass. they boast like no other and the gear is novice level.

I highly doubt you have a clue of what you're talking about.

It is very misleading, that is why they posted it. If you doubt my calculation do the math yourself, they even tell you that they are using 2.83v in parallel -- 0.75 ohms -- so do the math.

YES!! totally agree

most efficiency ratings don't have a standard way of measuring. And a lot of them are taken at 1khz..... Don't know what music you listen to where you would want your subs to play that note lmao.

Well why not? every other company does it misleading. Lets you find two subs that do measure from the same standard. and it happens to be 50hz. This is free air.... which means SH*T in a box. And lets say you find one that measures it in a box. problem is different subs will perform different in different boxes. So if by some 1 in a 1,000,000 chance you find two taking the same test watts/freq/box..... STILL not an accurate way to compare subs due say sub A has a higher efficiency .... But sub B works much better in larger ported boxes and plays with a better curve. ANd turns out will get much louder in its optimal box..

Well, it is very clear that you have no experiance with C-mass stuff. I have been in this game for well over 20 years and have experianced a bunch of different name brands, and in this case subs, and being that I own 2 of them, I feel as even though they are very, very expensive, they are the best sub that I personally experianced.

So I guess I will take my novice Rainbow gear and my novice UL12 and hide in a corner in shame.

YOU FAIL:laugh:

Well although I don't personally agree with his theory... As far as him saying he doesn't like them... Nothing wrong with that. but to call the novice.... I guess to each their own

" This Ultra-Performance Subwoofer utilizes the Dual Gap configuration of

the patented MMAG motor technology, which results in up to 2.5 times more X-max

than conventional motor designs."

"Up to 25% more air movement do to Oversized Sd technology as compared to other

drivers with comparable excursion capability. Combined with the X-max improvements

of the Dual Gap geometry, this subwoofer delivers over 200% more linear air

movement (more Bass) than conventional subwoofers with the same size voice coil."

What is considered a conventional subwoofer? one that uses ceramic magnets? so telling me this thing can have 2.5 times the lin xmax of the big boy from TC......... DOUBTFUL. Doubt it has even the same.

"This cone is one of the only cones that will withstand 5000 Watts of peak music

power. The Lightweight Carbon Fiber Sandwich Cone increases rigidity, and therefore

efficiency, which ultimately means more, undistorted, car-shaking bass.""

Last time I checked I thought pressure and usage and freq played had a lot to do with it. Granted obviously the more power you put the more likely to break the cone. Grrrrr I guess every company does this I just hate bs marketing crap. I guess from a business standpoint that is the best way to go to get customers.... But just off what I read (maybe a great woofer, I dunn) but i wouldn't use them just because the marketing.... shrugs i am picky prick. Also unless doing an spl only design I think using neo motors is a waste of money. Extremely costly and at least with shockers only gain you .7 db in the LANES so daily prob not much. Sounds like they are trying to sell it as a daily driver. I bet the tc /audiopulse big boy would take a dump on this woofer (and I think they are hella overpriced as well) Shrugs. This is my opinion only. Not bad mouthing them they may have GREAT stuff.. But my gut says .... well you know what it says

Dude, be careful about what you're trying to prove.

Standard subwoofer would mean your average overhung driver...simple backplate, magnetic stack, pole piece, and top plate. MMAG is in fact a different approach where you have (from the bottom up) a backplate, magnetic stack with pole piece in the middle, top plate, a second magnetic stack, and a second top plate. It's a really good approach for increasing Xmax and can improve BL linearity without sacrificing BL. Linearity isn't quite as good as other approaches, but it's mostly a function of the geometry of the two top plates.

TC Sounds' LMS approach isn't conventional either, so they wouldn't be comparing the UL12 to the LMS-Ultra.

Ahhh I wasn't trying to prove anything. I don't know a lot about their drivers and obviously as you can tell now nor neo. But it is extremely expensive. And I wasn't aware the LMS ultra wasn't conventional my mistake. ANd I guess I went a bit overboard. I just hate marketing in general so i am biased... But on the same note DD's is convent correct? and they have what 30mm one way. now again The woofers may be great.
