New Build Issues

SO........

vocals cutting out had to do with cold voltage as far as I know now. Anything changes I will update.

subs cutting out possible beginning of the death of my sub. Recone coming soon will update.

Mechman I left you a message to check with you! Thanks for everything you have done, your product is amazing! As well since you are here, do you think the fact that this happens when cold (Problem 1) is just the amp not being able to handle a 15+ volt, so it cuts off for that brief second that it hits around there??
any input on problem 2??
This depends on the amp. Some amps will protect at 15v, some don't until higher. This has been a problem even with OEM charging systems on some late model vehicles that will charge at 15.3v when cold.

I may of missed something but is the front amp protecting when voltage rises? If so the amp may not be able to handle it.
You sir did miss something //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif exactly what I was thinking as well. Seems to coincide with just cold voltage after everything gets nice and running it stops.

Your amp might just not like the .5 ohm load. I would wire up and see what happens. Just because you used the dd-1 doesn't mean you can blast at .5 ohm.
My amp loves a .5 ohm load bro....it was beggin for it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Spoke with atomic and my constant abuse / misuse caused some mechanical fatigue shall we say? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Yeah i think this 450.4 is going into protect at around 15.4 - 15.8 havent been able to pinpoint the exact number....it all just happens so fast haha

Can you throw on your old alternator or a test alt to see if thats the problem?

Gotta start the process of elimination.. if it still does it with regular alt.. then you can rule that out.

Instead of going through all that &H!T i turned down the mechman voltage regulator, ran it cold and it stopped. (Alternator is a pain in the *** to swap (BMW)) I can deal with it cutting out till alt gets warm so I returned my voltage to where I want it to sit...and now its cutting out again haha

That and it didnt do it before the swap. 4 channel was in their for many many months.

Ah.. I see.

Yeah, sometimes I forget that I have the easiest car to work on in the world. I open my hood and my alternator is staring me right in the face. 3 bolts removed and bam out comes the alt.. installation is just as easy. bolt on 3 bolts, give the tensioner a slight tug and slide the belt on.

Yeah I wanted to cry the first time I went to do the installation, I went in blind thinking I remembered everything...turned out I remembered next to nothing. Wasa nightmare. Its really not as bad as it was the first time no where near, but after that first experience I dread thinking about doing it again haha.

After the 4th and 5th time of messing with the pulleys, belts, tensioners, etc I managed to figure out that alternator bolt needs to be tight enough to hold the bracket juuuuust right and the other bolt needs to come out all the way to swing the alternator just enough to get the belt on. Then you go in blind and try to get that bolt to find the bracket and get it to thread. smh //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Right.. I've watched a few buddies do this on pontiacs/caddillacs where its literally underneath the engine block. Looked like an extreme pain in the ***

If I had a guess I could probably do a complete alt swap in 5 mins flat

sounds to me like they are starting to clip, which will eventually blow the sub. clipping is when the voice coil gets worn out and rubs the voice coil walls. hope this helps!
holy s**t I have seen it all now, dude don't give advice without experience that is so far from right I don't know where to begin correcting it!

Luckily enough mine is just under the airbox to the left, about 5 mins to get to it. And maybe another 10 to get it out. Thats NOW that I know of course lol.

aaaand that F'in impressive haha

I did lol when I read the comment first time around //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
