If you are willing to use up more space, why not go ported to get the most of the R's. What's the amp setup now?

Yes, 3 will be louder than 2 were, obviously. Theoretically you'll gain around a db and a half. but chances are more variables are changing (like direction facing etc) so hopefuully the increase will exceed that.

Although I tend to agree ported would probably be better for those subs, this sealed setup should be fine and definitely a more solid design than the previous one. Im glad the shop agreed to remake a new box. +1 rep for them.

^^^ Yeah they are really nice guys.. i said lets change it and no questions asked they took it out and started making a completely new box.

A side note... Has anyone ever heard 2 sealed 1 ported? (every time i see 2 ---- 1----- i think of 2 girls 1 cup) EWWW!

Ive heard 2 sealed and 2 ported, if that counts. Actually, I ran that, many many years ago when I was a noob. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Wow, I said no more opinions but I have to step in on this one. To pass off the blame on your fabricator is completely bull. If you had any idea of how an enclosure should be you would not allow this crap to be placed in a customer's vehicle. Your reasoning for why this was done is just outright retarded. If I owned a shop I would make **** sure my fabricator knew what the fVck he was doing(which you obviously havent done).
If you are in the Audio industry as an installer, you better make sure you cover all aspects of the field. Not your lame excuse that you do clean installs of radios and what not and just dont concentrate on the enclosures. That is completely unacceptable business ethics. If I were getting my car worked on, would I want a clean paint job but a half *** job on the motor? HELLLL NO.

Your logic is flawed and your excuses are weak. Please go learn a thing or two about audio then try again.(and Im still waiting on an answer to how many square inches of port per cubic foot, which im pretty much convinced you have no clue).
LOL - I never claimed to be an audio guru or "audiophile". We are doing what the client wants and will build it up to spec and make sure it sounds "good". Not only to us but our client. Our fabricator/installer knows what he's doing and I'll stand by what he has to to say/design. In no way am I placing blame on him.

Yes, I'm in the Audio industry and have been so for 10+ years...yet I'm not an "audiophile". I love car audio - just not as much as some here who take it to that level. That's great that you have interest in it at that rate and can help others who don't have that level of knowledge as you do.

As for the "business" end - my job is to handle the PR/Marketing side of the business...I never came on here claiming JLS knows all and does all - we're still learning for that matter. Our installers do a GREAT job - whether it be clean simple radio installs or enclosure fabrication...it's always done to the customer's satisfaction. Business is a total seperation from the "sound" side. What sounds good to one person isn't totally sounding good to another. As for the answer to your "square inches question" - it's easy to "google" it and get my education via "google" and lie to you so I won't. I never claimed to be a car audio guru? Why should I?

*IF* honestly you feel as though you have such passion for car audio - come out to S. California (if you don't already live here) and open up shop. There's more to meets the eye than just making system's "sound" good in cars! There's other aspects of the business you need to tend to and make the business work right. Out here in california - there's shops EVERYWHERE as compared to other places in the U.S. where it's minimal. Dog EAT Dog out here and the BEST ones stay open and alive...ask ANY shop owner in California right now how business is!

I applaud you for attaining such car audio knowledge at a young age (if it is your real age on here) if not then you have great experience behind you and use it postively to teach us "ignorant" car shops/people/members how a sound system should sound...but don't put somebody down to make yourself feel good because you know more then they do. You obviously had to start somewhere...respect the others that are doing the same.

No animosity towards anybody here..or hate..or anything negative at that - like Steve said..we (the shop/fabricator) are redesigning the box NO questions asked and making it sealed...Everybody can continue to bash/hate on us or others like us but bottom line is we're (JLS) still in business and continue to help out customers and receive referrals - until then, nothing won't change!

...don't take it wrong guys - I respect all of you for your great knowledge of all that is Car Audio - being a little postive and helpful towards people wouldn't hurt you guys either. Pride isn't everything!

well hopefully this will sound nice! I can't believe so many people responded all day. Kind of crazy.
Yeah, I told you I would at least respond - JLS had to voice something out there! Like we set from the get go Steve, if you don't like how it sounds - we'll re-do it!

See ya soon, bud!

Weren't fibbin' about how blunt and rash most guys can be on here - but then again it is EVERYBODY's passion on here and I can understand how they would want to voice there opinion - just wish they could be more positive then making the newbies feel so small...

Just remember - everybody's entitled to their opinion...like one of the other member's posted - "grow a thick skin and post with caution.." Good advice!

Doing what the customer wants is a great business practice; However there comes a point when the business reps should tell the customer what is going to happen. Most customers don't know how an install is going to be implemented (Design, specifications) and in this respect is where the installer tells the customer whats going to be done in order to fit their wants or needs.
