New box for my box

lol are trying to hint that there is a difference between a VENTED design and a ported design. Wow, this guy is a tool.
LOL! You're funny! I like all your negative comments - continue to do so and help me climb the google ladder! But they are the same - all in all "PORTED". KUDOS to you too! LOL!

JLS- you said you welcome constructive criticism, so here is some--

Just like you should never mix subs and sub sizes, you shouldn't mix enclosure types. (unless you're making a bandpass, but that's a whole 'nother ball game)

I don't think it will sound like garbage, per se, but I definitely don't think it will sound as good as it could, especially since the port is tuned to 42hz. The reason everyone is flaming the box with the 3 RF subs is because that port is way too long and narrow. Usually, its recommended that a port should never exceed an 8:1 ratio for length to width.

Sorry if I seem a little hostile, I am usually very helpful on here. It's just when shop owners come on here thinking they know all about audio it gets my blood boiling. You made an obvious screw up in design and you cant even admit to that.

Oh, and also-

Never ever ever give up build quality or proper design for the sake of aesthetics. Have you see the box BJ Fisher is building with the Fi logo inside it? It is bloody beautiful! Boxes can sound good and look good at the same time.

PERFECT - finally getting my point across! It's posts like this that'll help out the newbies like Steve and the other person on here! Not calling them names or putting down their system designs! Hey everybody starts out somewhere right? And learns along the way!

Thanks jmanpc - appreciate the advice/criticism! In EVERYTHING there's always something to learn - there's nobody that' knows EVERYTHING and if you say you do - you're fooling yourself. Only through experience can somebody learn - even if it's through your own "ignorance" or someone else's!

Yes - all you say is true - everytime we design an enclosure, we'll go what is recommended by the MFG. Must admit even JLS makes mistakes sometimes - BUT we'll always go with MFG standards and measurements. And if it doesn't sound right to us or even the customer we'll fix it!

Funny how you fit a majority of the members that like to bash?! Stupidity already used directed towards us? LOL! Yes, you can design a box with the same cosmetics - do you even know how the interiors of the box is designed! Let the bashing begin - it's all PR/Marketing work for us! I'm just proving my point!

NOTE- I was not putting down the OP, I was putting down YOUR shop for actually letting something like this be built. And you try to justify it by saying ohh its for looks. Port width would not effect the looks which is why i think it is a ridiculous cop out. But in the end, if the customer is happy and cant tell the difference, you got your money so why be worried about it.

JLJunkieMX107,

No didn't say and use the cosmetics as a justification - but stating the fact to some of our clients...they choose cosmetics over sound quality. But you're right - excuse or no excuse, should make sure they're happy right? He is - still comes back and has referred plenty of more clients.

If we just take money and run - we wouldn't be in business. Especially, when business is 80+% referral...

But all in all your right..I'm just saying that if most members are more helpful with the newbies trying to learn and give them advice - rather than bash them. That's my point - but your thoughts are taken ...

Im gonna second some points mentioned before:

1.Box quality should never be sacraficed for looks.

2.Great sounding boxes can look good to.

3.Mixing speakers( or amps) will cause cancelation issues, no matter what you say.

4. Dont fill this forum with bs, do your research, then ask questions and opinions.

5. We gave our honest opinions so dont b*itch.

All aside, i dont blame the guy representing the shop but please, have some knowledge in your field. The boxes dont look to bad but the designs are crap imo. The customer gets what he wants... usually the customer wants to be louder then the other guy.

Maybe the guys at ROE will like the box?
