new 5kwrms adassa sub *pic*

well those subs took 5k down each voice coil for 1 1/2 minutes at full volume in Andrews Golf. the one he bought and tweaked and did gain not lost. the lower score for the past year was because he was hittin a 158+ with 1 18" Kore sub.

but its ok i wont argue. it has been tested. and the subs are being used around the UK with no complaints. but i do understand 5k is high for an RMS. i wont argue that.

im just telling you what i know and what has been done with the subs. how do u think it should be tested to know it can handle 5k daily? nobody does 5k daily anyway. how would u test it to make sure it can???

and we will see what we can do.

was that verfied through RMS clamp and DMM for the entire test? that's alot of power for a battery bank to sustain...

IEC 268-5

you use a pink noise signal with a crest factor of 6 dB, filtered at 12 dB/octave below 40 Hz and above 5000 hz for 24 hours

EIA Standard RS-426A

white noise bandwidth limited from 40 Hz to 318 Hz with a six decibel crest factor, for 8 hours free air

or the more common one for large drivers...

EIA Standard RS-426 B

white noise bandwidth limited from 40 Hz to 1 kHz, with a three decibel per octave rolloff from 1 kHz to 10 kHz, and with a fast rolloff above 10 kHz and below 40 Hz, crest factor of 6db, free air, for 8 hours..

that's 3 ways to correctly spec RMS power handling of a loudspeaker..

ive only seen a couple subs do 2-3kw for 5 min, much less 5kw for daily on that size of a coil. I have an idea, why dont you send me one and i'll test it out for you, i'll put it on the Termlab, goldline, and RTA and do independant testing of it...that way no question will be had.

but i doubt adassa will rise to the occasion

talk to andrew. im sure if u talked a price out u can get one at a great price to test it.

but yah 5k is pretty extreme but hey not that it "cant" be done. its just that is has never been done.

like if u had the first colored tv back in the day nobody would belive u. same case. but yah i know where u guys are coming from.

lol i dont run them and i have never tested them. so i dunno what to tell ya.

ok ill just say what u wanna hear.

ok it cannot be done. just like landing on Mars it cannot be done.

I get many woofers sent to me as test demo units all the time, I NEVER pay for it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

But its a win-win deal if it is sent, it gets a legitimite review and proper abuse testing by me on the Termlab and I write up a technical paper for it, since in a previous life I was a technical writer for an engineering firm.

In fact right now im setting up the test lab for a Mach 5 Audio 18" sub....we'll see what it can do today //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

so why do they send the subs to you for testing who are you?
