Need you guys/gals opinion

Just acquired a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and want to replace the factory radio. This vehicle also has the VES system, with the fold down tv screen for the back seat, and steering wheel controls. I have narrowed it down to the Pioneer AVIC-8200NEX or the Clarion NX706. Will either of these work with the VES system and steering wheel controls in this vehicle? If they both work which do you guys/gals recommend, and why? Thanks in advance.

I did a quick vs. and it brought me to crutchfield to weigh the specs.

What color is your Cherokee?

What does "just acquired" mean?

Any radio can be hooked up.....just a matter of installed properly.

What is it that you want either of the HU? What exactly are your needs/wants? Most of today's hu's have dam near everything that's on your cellphone too. Wouldn't be a bad idea to get the unit with the most features for stereo expandability later on down the road.

My wife got a new car so I "acquired" her jeep.

Ive noticed that the pioneer has the apple carplay and the clarion does not. However, the clarion has an optical input on the back and the pioneer doesn't. Is one of these units just better than the other or just about the same with the exception of a feature or two?
