i **** at math and am new to building boxes. so can i get some help? im designing a box for my 12" TDXs, so heres what i plan on building:

H: 16inches

W: 16inches

D: 15inches

1" material

Total Volume: 1.47454

done with http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/boxcalcs.asp#por

now i need to know how big my port needs to be, i plan on have a rectangular port and the manuel for the TDX says that the Fb (tuning freq.) needs to be 33 im assuming that wut u guys mean by box tuning, also what is a "Port I.D." the manuel says it needs to be 4" i dunno wut the length should be, somewhere inbetween 12" - 17.5" also wuts the F3 cuz it needs to be 35

the port section isnt included in the demensions above

im beyond confused...someone help...i hate math...

o BTW this is the setup for one sub, not both, i dont know if it means anything but i will be running 1000wats to each

its a range of 1.65-1.2cubes for the range of 900-1200watts sense im going to run a 1000watt amp i was going from something 1.45ish, the port will be added onto the box, adding to the demensions i listed, the demensions i listed were just to get the necessary cubic feet in the box, the displacement of the sub is 0.13ft^3, im not sure wut that is tho.

thanks for all the help moe! i just got an email from Diamond Audio...this is their box design for the 12" TDX...its pretty odd looking

The diagram for the box is pretty common, but its entirely for SPL, you might look into a different design if you wanted anything else.

Isnt the diagram for the box you just posted way too big ? You original post said something

about being limited to around 1.4735 cubes ?

40hz is too much for daily driving..

i'd pay Jmac to design you a box, its only 12$ and you'll get a nice diagram for your box!

goodluck

Moe Lester already drew me up a spiffy design for my box, i was just posting what DA sent me cuz i thought it was a little...out there. so you think the box DA sent me is too extreme for daily driven? the guy on the phone at DA said its "perfect for the subs"

yeah its way too extreme for daily driving, because the only 40hz notes that are played are in test tones, not regular music. Which would make it purely for competition and SPL. If you played regular music with that box, you would eventualy damage the sub.

from: http://forums.caraudio.com/vb/showthread.php?t=68635

common tunning frequencies :Sound Quality : 20 up to 28 Hz.

Sound Quality Loudness : 30 up to 35 Hz

Sound Pressure LeveL SPL : 40 up to 80 Hz (test tones are played rather than normal music, to avoid Low frequencies, which damages the speaker).

Its commonly used for competition propose. and not everyday driving.(unless you like listening to test tones for everyday driving).
Hope that helps!
