Need Info On JL w6v2 Help!

I have 2 12 in JL w6s....and i need to know what amp i should get. Also i need to know if i should set up them up at 4 ohms or 2 ohms. I dont know that much about car audio and would love some help!!
Well this is a super loaded question and you got a couple very nice sounding subs to start with IMO.

These are just the amps I like and more people will chime in on other good ones.

JL 500/1 or 1000/1 would run both those subs at anywhere between 4ohm to 1.3 ohm.

Diamond Audio D3 or D6 1000.1 or 1200.1

There are so many other amps that can do the job well. Most amps you are going to want to run at 2 ohm if the amp is stable at that resistance.

If I'm not mistaken those subs only come in dual 4 ohm voice coil. If thats the case you can't run both of them at 2 ohm. You need an amp that will give the power you want at 4 ohm or 1 ohm to run the both of those subs. JL amps will do rated RMS power from 4 ohm down to 1.5 ohm. I've got an Alpine PDX 1.1000 that does 1000 watts RMS at 4 and 2 ohms and its been good to me. FYI Alpine PDX amps are great and they're cheaper than JL.

ok so the w6s are the v2s and i have both voice coils set parralell.....does that mean each sub is at 2 ohms and now i have a 4 ohm load? or what does it mean. my subs sound nice, but they are underpowered, im running a lame foasgate 800 w and its just not enough. i have about $400 to spend on an amp! more opinions?? and one question on my headunit. i have an alpine that allows me to change the bass frequecy......should i have it at 120hz or 60 hz. 120hz sounds way nice......but im wondering if im losing low bass then. or is it only affecting my speakers? AHHH im such a noob!

Ok so i checked out the diagrams, and now i remember the kid telling me they were set up at 1 ohm, but now the question is what sounds nicer and hits harder? should i have them set up in series for a 4 ohm load, or parralell for 1 ohm load. i have no idea what ohm loads mean!!!! And any more amp opinions?

the JL1000/1 will not work if they are wired to 1 ohm. They are only stable to 1.5 ohms. Yes you could wire them to 4 ohms, and get the 1000 watts. But still its only 500 per sub.

imo, i would get an amp that does like 1500 or so at 1 ohm. Maybe even a little more.

Some amps to considerer.

AQ2200d

rd1750

Ok so ive been browsing amps, and i found one with a reasonable price.http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=15528

anywone have any info on it. will it power 2 JL w6s at 1ohm without protecting or overheating?
That amp is crap. Pretty much all those amps on that site are. some decent ones, but not many.

The rf is ok, still mid level. and still not enough power for 2 w6's

Did you check out the aq or RD?

and i would put at least 750-1000 on them. They will be fine if its set up right. ie, not clipping.

check out the AQ 1200 or the aq2200 both solid amps.

the rd has a 1750 i believe that would do well too.

Both of those are in that price range.

There are many other great amps out there too. But in general, if they have a spider/skull/ flames on em kep away. The same can be said for amps with chrome or other flashy shiney lights and junk.

What type of enclosure are they in? That will determine the power needs.

Wire them to 4 ohm and bridge a two channel. It makes no sense to wire to 1 ohm and run the piss out of an inefficient Class A/B.

Ok....I checked them out and i think the AQs are nice......but i cannot find a place tht sells them. I went to Audioque.com but the site looks ghetto. Know of any sites? Also if i go with the Aq 1200....which is rated at 1200rms at 1ohm, that means aprox 600 rms to each sub right? and what does NOT CLIPPING mean?
