im getting a 5000 watt mono amp that will be pushing my 1 12" sub at 2500 watta rms. i will also have a 400 watt 4chanelle amp pushing my mids and highs. i dont wanna fry my cars electrical system or even have any kinds of electrical problems at all. i already bought a 200amp ho alternator and caps, but im still worried.im willing to give it to my nephew and buy different electrical products if need to. SUGGESTIONS? and BRANDS?. thx and aloha

Get rid of the caps. No need for more strain...
I see that statement all the time - but a Cap is a storage device - it does not consume power - it holds what is on hand. Having 1 or 2F will hardly be a strain on any cars charging system compared to the huge draw the amp's consume. A cap has a very low resistance, so very little voltage is lost when it is charged/discharged, so how can something that does not consume and does not waste power be a strain?

Caps are useful, but they are not the "answer to all problems" either

I mentioned a long time ago during a battery debate - to use jumper cables to a friends car (while off) to see what exactly the second battery did to the voltage fluctuation at idle of the first car with a system. Its not so much a strain as people think, but rather a buffer that provides added current during spikes.
