I am new to car audio and I need some help setting up my new system. I chose a more ameture all Pioneer system due to budget. I have installed the Pioneer AVH-X5800bhs head unit (RMS; 22 watts per channel), Pioneer TS-A1685R 4 way speakers (RMS; 60 watts ), and TS-T110 tweeters (RMS; 40 watts). I am not sure if an amp would help me in the case, but my bigger question is about a sub. I would like to keep as much space as possible so I was thinking about a custom fiberglass, sealed subwoofer enclosure to fit in the extra space of my spare tire. Pioneer makes a line of subs for small enclosures and designed to take up a small amount of space and I think that would be my best bet (Shallow Mount | Pioneer Electronics USA). I am not looking to be heard from 10 miles away ; p, but I am looking for a nice depth of sound. I know my question is not very specific; but any help, advise, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for helping the newbie. - Matt

Well Matt. What are your goals and budget. The pioneer speakers are cheap for a reason but there is better and you are at the right place Asking for help is also wise since you don't know what's good

Thank you for the reply! I have a budget of about $260 and my main priority is to get a subwoofer. My midranges are fine and my head unit supplies enough power so they don't have to be amped, but in the future I plan on upgrading it. So, here are my ideas, and it will probably be a long long response so sorry in advance : ). For the subwoofer I will need an amp, I could bite the bullet and go for a 4 channel and connect positive subwoofer terminal to Chanel one positive and negative to Chanel 4 negative ( I believe that is how it works and I don't know what the technique is called) or I can keep my head units sub controller and get a subwoofer only amp and if I got an amp I could do a bridge between the left and right sub connection to a single sub to increase power. My plans for a sub enclosure is a spare tire enclosure. It takes up the extra space in a spare tire to save room ( Subwoofer in spare tire - Unofficial Honda FIT Forums ). This setup would only support a single 10in woofer and it would need a shallow sub that supports a small enclosure. Or I could forget that and use a two sub enclosure and wire one (+ to +) and (- to -) and the other (+ to -) and (- to +) to increase out put. Sorry for the long response, I just took everything I though about and typed it. Thank you for the help!

Well first off I'd save up more money. Do it right the first time don't buy junk since you already have the speakers. Use them til they blow then replace as needed for the sub is look into a sundown sdv3 and maybe a 600 watt or more amp. But again you'll need more cash. You'll also need an amp kit as well
