War Eagle!!!
Need a new receiver, ran out of digital hookups on my reciever now:hissyfit:

pieces:

1)PS3 using HDMI

2)HD DVD using HDMI

3)XBOX360 using component and optical cable

4)HD cable box with component video and coax for audio

right now i have the ps3 hooked up to the reciever using optical cable and the cable box using a coax, and that all that is on there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

now i would like a reciever that can get audio from the hdmi cables, and have a input selector for each piece, on my reciever now i have to select dvd then go through the digital input selector to pick which source

i was originally looking at the pioneer vsx-1017, i liked the looks of it and it fell right in my price range(370$), but its way too deep and dosent offer anything over the 917 except alot more power from what i could tell, which i dont need, and i can find the 917 for ~$300

http://www.onecall.com/ProductDetails.aspx?id=86773

now i read the 917 only does hdmi pass through, does that mean i cant get the audio signal from it?

i also looked at the Denon AVR-1508 http://www.onecall.com/ProductDetails.aspx?id=88230

onkyo 575

http://www.onecall.com/ProductDetails.aspx?id=86983

sony dg910

http://www.onecall.com/ProductDetails.aspx?id=87318

too much different things too look at, i kinda had my mind set on the pioneer 917, but i read the thing on hdmi pass through and didnt know if that was right or not

i cant use the onkyo 605, because its too tall, i might could get it to fit but it would mess everything up

thanks for any help

the sony receivers do not do near rated power at lower volume levels.

Denon receivers are going to be much more than what you want to pay for the features that you need.

The Onkyo TXSR605 is $499 @ CC, but it can be found a little bit cheaper online.

Passthrough only sends a video signal from the HDMI cables, and is a feature that is a big waste of time and money. Go for the 605, it is very nice, and reliable.

Brilliant aren't you?

I liked it when I didn't see you post in here... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Onkyo 605 if you want a a receiver that decodes thd, dd+, dts-master and so on. Most receivers are pretty oversized, whats your dimensions? The 605 can be had for like 300-320 shipped refurbished from onkyo, got mines from amazon for 379$ shipped new not refurbish though. Yamaha VX-661 and HK AVR247 are also nice ones as well.

I liked it better when you didn't think that you knew everything. The DG910 claims to send 110 w per chanel, when compared to the 605, you have to turn up the volume considerably louder in order to achieve the same output as the Onkyo, which says that it does 85-90w per channel.

How about if YOU don't know what your talking about, then find another thread to post your useless prattle in. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

OMG YOU HAD TO TURN ONE UP LOUDER!>!?!L!I*!(#&(!~~~!!!!

Maybe the Sony is more linear?

I think you really have a serious miss understanding of how amplifiers and preamps work if you are concerned about how much you have to 'turn' one up.

Good lord...

I have no experience with the yamaha receivers.....
Doesn't sound like you have much experience at all...
