Need a new reciever: trying for less than $400

so i just want to use 1 hdmi cable from say ps3 or hddvd to the reciever for both audio and video i will have to go with the 605?

if i go with say pioneer 917 i willhave to a run hdmi to reciever and a digital optical cable too, to take care of both

I liked it better when you didn't think that you knew everything. The DG910 claims to send 110 w per chanel, when compared to the 605, you have to turn up the volume considerably louder in order to achieve the same output as the Onkyo, which says that it does 85-90w per channel.

How about if YOU don't know what your talking about, then find another thread to post your useless prattle in. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
You do realize the output power is entirely dependent on the signal gain, therefore, less volume = less power

Pretty much...

What I have been doing, since Rotel doesn't make anything that will decode HD Audio, is using the 5.1 analog audio outs.

To be honest you might get better performance letting the source unit decode the audio and just running analog. I don't think you can do this with the PS3, but you probably can with HD-DVD and I know most stand alone BR players will let you do this.

I wouldn't spend too much of my decision on which receiver is compatible with EVERY new format. Especially since there is rumor of HDMI 1.4a (which is only rumored in a few dark areas of the industry). I would pick the unit which fits your power needs, works well with your loudspeakers, and sounds the way you want it to sound.

That is all just my opinion. Get what you want...

That line made my morning. That was more retarded than sepatc's posts about audiobahn on scionlife haha.

"the sony receivers do not do near rated power at lower volume levels"

Anyways, if your out of digital inputs, why not buy a digital HDMI / Optical switch & save some cash? I run the Psyclone. Never has let me down, picture is 100% equal to running the cable straight to my tv. And like I said it also switches optial for each channel as well which kicks @ss! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I bought mine on ebay for $99.99 new

It is exactly like this unit...

I do not know that seller so be carefull. Anyways have had mine for over a year. Stellar product.

It worked out perfect for me since my slightly older 7.1 receiver which I LOVE did not have HDMI inputs and my TV does. So I ran the output HDMI straight to my TV & ran the fiberoptic out to my receiver. Works perfect.
