I am going to have a Soundsplinter RLP-18 that i need a new box for.

The space that i have available is 48" wide, 26" tall, 12" deep top and bottom. these are all max measurements, they can be less if needed.

I would like to have two slot ports on the each side of the box (front side). 1 port is ok if thats my only option for tuning to 28 hz. I cant seem to get what i want on RE enclosure designer.

this is something like i am looking for:

can someone design a box like this tuned to 28 hz?

Using your dim and a port 2.5"W x 24.5"H x 36.5"L (61.25 in^2 of port) You net 5.09 ft^3 before driver displacement tuned to 28hz

To tune as low as you want and keep within your space requirements that is the most I could get. If you have a little more room to work with a little larger wouldn't hurt

If youre interested in buying an enclosure design I could see what I can come up with. If you want, Ill design it, sketch it up. Then if you like it send $15 to me and Ill give you step by step pics and a cutsheet.

28 hz is going to be super low, you could always do 30-32 hz and be able to go a little larger on port surface area. just a suggestion. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I want to absolutely kill the lows with the RLP-18, if 30hz will do it, then ill do that, but if not i want it as low as needed.

Tuning higher will get you more output overall...but Mike's suggestions from soundsplinter seem to work really well for his drivers. I've used his suggestions for both rli-8's and an rlp-12 and it worked out good:

yeah i remember seeing that, it recommends 5.0 cu ft tuned to 27hz, that seems really low, but i could live with that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

im just wondering how much square port area i would need...

also, i was playing around with the RE Enclosure calculator, but the port is always in the same position and you cant adjust it..

heres a pic of what I came up with on RE and more of what I am looking for because of mounting depth.

Can someone design a box like the second one in the picture tuned to 28-30 hz netting around 5 cubes with my measurements... ( 46" wide, 25.5" tall, 12" deep

I can do it like that but the problem is with your max dimensions and wanting to have 5 ft^3 net your port needs to be smaller to get the tuning you want.

More port area = more port length = more port displacement = less net vol.

70 in^2 would be a pretty good size for you I think but then you would need to make the port longer and you would only end up with about 4.5 ft^3 net.
