how so? the blance is up at that top. the nl has 6 80 win teams and 7 70 wins teams, so it's just a glutten of mediocre teams

If you have the most competition, you'll have a bell curve.... most teams should be in that mid range of wins.
lol that still doesn't discard the fact that the cardinals had the 3rd worst record ever of any playoff team. the NL was a mediocre league.
it's not really a bell curve since 1 team had 90 wins. usually in a bell curve you'd need atleast more then 1 at the top end.

no the AL has more legit teams that can easily make the world series. the only legit team in the national league was the mets when they had pedro. st. louis is on a role but during the season their pitching was horrific. the national league west has no teams that are world series caliber teams.
AL top heavy? umm they got good teams such as the a's, angels, chi sox, minnesota, cleveland (even though they had a bad year), detroit, toronto, new yankees and boston. all solid teams. i mean come on the nl central had cincy in contention. and my giants didn't get get put out of the playoffs until about 7-8 games left in the season. the giants were garbage. the only good teams in the nl are the mets and st louis. no one else stacks up against the al. why do you think the al has won like 5-6 straight all star games and destroyed the nl during interleague play.

Pfft, like the Allstar game counts for anything. Yes the NL west was terrible, and Yes the Padres got booted out pretty quick... that's what playoffs are for.

Not this arguement again. I personally think the NL is more competitive and agree with Beat about everything. The AL does have a huge advantage with the DH. I say take it out and watch their records resemble a lot of the National leagues records. I am also a Cleveland Indians fan. Just would love to see them take it out one year just to prove this point.

this argument is about what league is better. as i stated earlier the american killed the national league this in interleague play. going 154-98. better than a .600 winning percentage. the AL simply has more legitimate players and pitchers. American League has vlad, big papi, arod, manny ramirez, derek jeter (also include the whole yankee lineup) and the national league ha besides albert pujols? nobody.

seriously though, an NL team has the major disadvantage in interleague play..
On AL turf, they have to put a bench player in their lineup when the DH is historically a power slugger. Who would you rather have in your lineup? Scott Spezio or Big Papi?
I would like to see a breakdown of that 154-98 stat as in how many wins AL teams had in NL parks. Then a conclusion can be drawn

doesn't prove anything. the fact of the matter is the american league has better talent and teams. i was just throwing out facts on why american league is better than the national league. just how the west owned the nba for years and how afc right now has much better talent the nfc. looking up and down the teams in the al against the nl, the al has way better formiable teams. i mean come on the 4th, 5th, 6th best teams in the nl are the likes of philly, houston and cincincatti compared to the al's chicago white sox, anaheim angels, and toronto blue jays.
if you want to argue about being competitive, probably the most competitive division in the national league is definately the national league west. too bad its made up of teams that aren't that talented or good.
oh yea forgot about mr. ryan howard. he's a good player.
also it goes both ways my friend. wouldn't you think it would be more advantageous for the NL to add a bench player to their lineup instead of having a pitcher than when an AL team goes to the NL park and to have to put big papi at first base (defensive liability) and also have an unexperience pitcher hit?

Berkman, Howard, Soriano, A. Jones, Miguel Cabrera, Beltran, Delgado, Reyes, I can go on...plus, the NL has a plethora of young, very talented players- Mets alone have Reyes and Wright who are both what, 23? And are already probably the best left side of the infield in the league...
Dan Uggla, Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, Pujols, Beltran, Bill Hall, Jason Bay, Matt Holiday, Garret Atkins, Jeff Francoeur, Prince Fielder, Miguel Cabrera, Jimmy Rollins, Adrian Gonzalez, Brad Penny, Carlos Zambrano, Brandon Webb, Roy Oswalt, are all under 30 and many are under 25, and are all either all-stars or will be in the future...the NL is loaded with young talent, whereas teams like the Yankees and Red Sox are getting older and older...
