my sub sounds bad is it because im under powering it?

Hi im new to this forum.

I put my 700 w sub in my car and it sounds like its not working and i have a 300w amp i know im under powering it but i dont know that much about it should i buy a biger amp? But can some one help me plz?

No, it's not because you're underpowering it...you're probably driving the amp into clipping.

Your gain may be up too high. Check your gains, and also read through the gain setting tutorial thread here: http://forums.caraudio.com/vb/showthread.php?t=63933
