My Sub Is Popping?

Yeah when I run my sub(AA Ava 12") free-air it makes a popping noise but only when lyrics,mids-highs kick in on the track. I dunno if it is the sub trying to reproduce those sounds or if something in the sub is popping. There is no tinsel slap. Or is it things just sound different when running free-air? Thankx for the help

by the way im running it w/o an amp or nething. its hooked up to a home stero thru speaker outputs. thanx for ne info

thanks every1. i dont have nething for the sub, no headunit but i did just get a nine.1 yesterday but i just wanted to hear the sub. its just sits there begging to be used u know?

Are you sure the impedance of the sub is the same as the stereo? You may be putting a big load on your stereo. I was going to do this with my sub, but I just don't want to risk it. Basically, it sounds like a LPF is in order, but I share your pain of having a sub just sitting there and wanting to hear it

im almost there its just that this FB enclosure is giving me some measurment problems. putting it in a 87' el camino and its pretty tight. but ill save all that mess for the box construction forum. Again thanks 4 the help everyone.
