Critical Mass shallow subs - anyone?

anyone with experience/knowledge of these pups? I can't seem to find ANY other shallow woofs with decent power-handling out there. It'd be fun to do 3 or 4 12"s in a false floor. Dunno if they're worth the install-time/effort though. Woohoo... 1" p-p xmax *lol*. May be fine in the right circumstances though...

Price is OK for a neodynium magnet sub (Diamond D9, for example). Design is interesting.

I'm really not finding much out there on these guys.

ive heard them. not impressed at all. if going for shallow mount subs try and research earthquakes srs shallow mount sub very impressive for a shallow mount woofer.

Same inverted magnet design as the Illusion Audio subwoofers (likely licensed the technology from IA).

I've never listened to them. Was very interested in them about 6 months ago, until I saw the MSRP (which is about $200 more than the IA Carbon series).

The Illusions are only rated for 250/400/600W RMS respectively. A lot less than CM's. You're right, Squeak -- the motor design appears almost identical.

I suppose someone could dump a load of moderate 8"s in a false floor for similar results (maybe better). Still brain-storming ideas for my next sub experiment.

Rockford Fosgate is comming out with a shallow sub thats suposed to be slammin.

Alpine has the PLT series comming out in April which uses linear transducer technology. Big Bass in a little space.

Likely: 3" VC, probably not particularly efficient, dependent upon the damping of a small sealed enclosure, and powerful/small neodynium magnet @ motor.

Looks interesting. Not for my personal vehicle, but I may think about throwing a PLV-5 in the wife's trunk to see if it's decent.
