My sub enclosure/amp rack trunk build (30+ pics)

Bro, I have a suggestion. Go to walmart and get the cheapest, shittiest pillow you can find. Should be aroun 5 dollars. Rip it open, and you now have 3x as much poly fill for 1/5 the price.

thanks for the info, but I already have two 1lb bags of poly fill. I don't want to use poly fill though. I'm using "batting" (sheets of polyester material that can be laid flat for padding, not stuffing which is what polyfill is used for.) this way when I glue it down to the exterior of the enclosure and amp racks it will be all uniform in thickness. then I can glue the grey material over it.

Also the batting was like $7 bucks for the bag which has more than enough to do everything. Poly fill is $2.98 a bag at walmart. I bought two bags of polyfill and one bag of batting. the poly fill was going to be put in the enclosure but I'm not going to do that now. I plan on returning the polyfill.

Material (3 yards)(grey), adhesive spray, and batting (polyester padding) cost me all of $24.00.

looks really good. and i am jealous of that garage. i see that u ran ur power wire under the car. u may want to run that in some flex conduit just so u have no chance of it getting damaged. and i would suggest doing the big 3. and what all are u going to be running.

I bought a 15" RL-p D2 for a sub

yeah the flexi hose stuff is a good idea. the line under the car is tucked up above the frame, but it is exposed near the front and at the rear end.

System going in:

Kenwood X889

Dynaudio system 260's (2x) 8" mid bass/(2x) 1.1" tweeters for the front stage)

RL-p 15"

Orion 8004 (to power front stage)

Directed 1500D (to power sub)

wiring

0 guage power line

Stinger distribution box

4 guage to each amp

4 guage to sub

15 guage to comps

4 guage grounds all the way around

I do plan to do the big three later. I want to get my new battery first. next month for sure.

over kill is my middle name lol. If the sub doesn't take 4 guage then I'll run something smaller. Thanks for the info though because I was going to buy more 4 guage as I'm running low. I have a ton of 6 guage though. hmmm.

IMO over kill is always better than not having enough.

I'll pick up some 12 guage...

i like how you used the router. good idea.

and everything is looking very good so far.

keep up the good work and pics //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Wow... I like how you used your router... I gotta try that some time.. Seems to have worked pretty well for you... Nice garage by the way...

Make sure to post more pictures.. I want to see the finished product..

Thanks everyone! More pics to come as the week continues. The entire audio build should be completed sometime next month.

Yeah the router/string worked very well. When it came time to make the circle we needed a compass but didn't have one that large. the only thing we could think of was using string, a nail, and a pencil. Then when it was time to cut we decided to try the string again. it took a little bit to get the string the correct length but in the end it worked awesome! The real trick was getting the string to NOT wrap around the nail as the circle was cut. Once that problem was solved it was as easy as 1, 2, 3.
