My sub drowns out mids and highs

I would focus on the front speakers more then the rear. The front is where you will get most of your imaging from.Do a good comp set up front 6.5 and a tweeter.Turn the gain down on the sub amp so your not getting the maxx output until your about 3/4 of the way up in volume.

ive already invested as much money on the front speakers as im going to

Then turn down your bass.......Your not going to be able to over power the subs off a factory deck.So you either have to add power or take some away.Adding "better" speakers in the rear isn't going to solve your problem up front.

So save your money and buy an amp OR turn the sub gain down so it doesn't get so loud so fast.If your going to spend the money why not buy what you need.

if you got 6.5's, why are you moving to 6x9s. is that for the rear or something. you have an amp laying around, i suggest getting a decent comp set and run it with the amp.

buy 6.5 components for the front and move the pioneer 6.5s in the rear deck.. and get a 4 channel amp and amp both sets.. im in the same boat here.. my stuff gets drowned out, and i hve stocks in the rear.. so imma get some phoenix gold coaxs and matching mtx 4 channel in the future and rock out with my cokk out
