My Single 10" Blowthrough, complete install in '03 S10 (pics!)

Here are a few pics of the one I did last year, taken with my phone. Sorry the quality isn't as good. These are the only pics I could find for now:

Blue LEDs were used to light the subs, and a buddy of mine who runs a sign shop cut the Alpine logo out of 1/4" plexi. This was more for show... I prefer the sound of the new setup with nothing covering the sub. The Alpine logo was all the way cut out, so it wasn't sealed off/bandpass, but it sounds better the way I have the new one. Flame away I guess...

why not center the sub in the middle? think it would sound alot better to?
Well, for a few reasons. First off, I wanted to retain as much of my bed as possible, so having it off in one corner allows me to keep the full length of the bed for most of the width of the bed. Second, the cab is so small inside, it actually fills it very well. And lastly, I didn't want it closer to me than my components in the passenger door, for TA purposes. I found that with the sub in the middle, the passenger side components seemed to be fighting to be heard, whereas with it tucked over in the corner, it blends pretty well with everything. It also keeps it somewhat hidden behind the passenger seat. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I got it at a place called "Little Dealer, Little Prices" that sells camper shells and RV stuff. I think it was about $7/ft. If you have a hard time finding some, I'd be happy to get some for you and ship it... I would imagine though that most camper places sell something similar.
As for the deadening question, I used 2 bulk packs of Dynamat Extreme, which comes out to 72ft^2, plus another 50 ft or so or eDead, which I don't really like. I just used the eDead on the inner panels of the doors, and Dynamat everywhere else. I didn't do the dash, but I did the floor up to the firewell, the entire rear wall, the sides by where the seatbelts go, and the doors inside and out. There are a lot of brands out there, and I'm sure there is stuff out there for cheaper that is just as good or better. The only reason I went with the Dynamat is because I was able to pick it up locally for really cheap. Square footage also depends on what you're putting it in and how many layers you wanna go. My entire floor is at least 2 layers thick, and 3 in some spots, and my outer door panels are 2-3 layers thick, and 2 layers on the rear wall. So you could get by with using less if you don't do multiple layers, but I figured I bought it, so what the hell //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Needless to say, it sounds exponentially better than any non-deadened vehicle I've had. It punches me in the gut for sure.

Mike
thanks for that. So 50ft^2 of dynamat should do two doors in and out 2 layers?

the other alpine looks sick.
i was gonna do that same idea with for a kicker box.

but the window was gonna be on the side with a light inside the box.
Ya i may do something like that down the road to dress it up a bit, but I was really more going for SQ this time around. I did like the way it looked for sure though!

Budda... 50ft. should be plenty for both doors in and out...

Well thanks guys //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Glad to see the comments have perked up a bit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I may do another 10 and a bigger/2nd sub amp in a month or two.
