So over the last week or so I have had the truck apart doing my install. This is the first one where I have spent this much time doing it, and trying to make it look nice, sound great, and keep it pretty simple. This is also the first time I've documented it along the way with pics! I'm not a professional installer, but I think it turned out pretty good with the resources I had available. The equipment is as follows:

HU: Alpine CDA-9887

Front stage: Alpine SPX-17PRO

Rear stage: None

Sub stage: Alpine SWX-1043D

Front Amp: Alpine MRV-F545 (bi-amping SPX-17PROs)

Sub Amp: Alpine MRD-M1005 (~1090w@2ohms)

Wiring: 1/0 Kicker Hyperflex, 4ga Kicker Hyperflex, 12 and 16ga LA Strike, Kicker

twisted interconnect

Electrical: 200A High Output Alternator, DB Electrical, Kinetik 1400 under hood

Deadening: 72ft^2 Dynamat Extreme, entire truck except headliner, 50ft^2 eDead, inner door panels

Driver's side door:

Now for the box build: Inner dimensions are 12x12x12, or 1ft.^3 gross volume. Box is built out of 3/4" MDF, then another layer of 3/4" MDF was built around the box for added support. So the box is essentially 1.5" thick with outer dimensions of 15x15x15. Pics:

Now for the speaker pods. I used the stock S10 pods and modified them a bit using one of the mounting brackets that came with the SPX-PROs along with a block of non-hardening modeling clay. Clay was inserted between the SPX bracket and the stock pod, then in between the pod and the door once it was mounted:

all that for 1 10"?
my thoughts exactly.

you do realize you just completly ruined the resale value of your truck for a single 10? if you really wanted to you could have probably built a box for behind the seat.

not to mention now you have a wooden box in your bed that looks like crap.

I like screws much more than many on this board, but hot **** thats a lot of screws in there, glue should have been fine for simply joining the 2 boards, then screws around the edge just like normal.

Just not what I was expecting with this blow through //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif I was thinking sub in center poking its little head out barely visible between the seats. It does certainly look good non the less.

Now for the amps/xovers/sub: Amps were mounted on a trim piece I made to fit where the stock carpet used to be. I insulated the hole of the blowthrough with accordion boot, which is commonly used on camper shells. It has 2 sides of metal tabs that grab onto the metal lip of the trucks' cab and bed. I then cut the excess I had, and used it around the stock vinyl trim piece to make it look a little nicer.

Overall it went pretty smooth. The trim pieces hid the cut pretty well, and everything cleaned up fairly nice. I'm still working on the imaging with the tweeters as far as placement goes, but so far everything sounds super solid and clean. Just what I expected! Comments welcome! Thanks for looking.
